Your personal fashion rules

1. classics work best....trendy clothes don't last. And, wear only what compliments and works for you.
2. make sure your clothes are clean! soiled garments (under arms, etc...) are just plain tacky.
3. be bold and accent your best feature. Ex: got a great back? have fun with a backless cocktail dress or gown.
4. be sure that undergarments are appropriate for your outer attire. please no red panties with a white skirt. and no panty lines.......yikes! :yuk:
5. never wear dark leg wear with white or pale colored shoes....looks like Minnie Mouse.
6. no scuffs on shoes! you can easily remove the scuffs or just get rid of them.
:o

These are my most obsessive rules! :flower:

My personal rules...

1) Don't wear trendy clothes...
2) ...unless you like them because you like them, and not because other people are wearing them, and you will continue to wear them after the trend is over.
3) Don't wear the same style of clothing all the time.
4) Do the opposite of what "fashion magazines & articles" say.
5) Don't try too hard.

I just love this rule :D !!!

Never pay to be somebody else's advertising.

Legible clothing is rarely a good thing.

I am an Autumn. I should not wear purple or blue or many types of green. Pastels are right out, too.

No high heels.

No dry-cleaning.

No must-haves.

Can it travel in a backpack and come out looking basically okay?

Any given outfit should have at least one pocket and optimally about 4.

All shoes must be comfortable, no exceptions, ever!

Wearing ease is my friend.

dress for your body type!!!!! that means nothing hanging out and not being consumed by the clothing

keep it simple

absolutely no more than ONE trendyish item on at a time

you have to be able to sit down

no nasty stains, wash your clothes

no denim and denim

only wear shoes you can WALK in ...stumbling and hobbling about doesn't count

what's bad about this? I think it's nice if you have an aesthetic you can call your own.

i also don't see what's so bad about wearing a jean jacket with jeans....

the only fashion rules I live by are:

1) Always buy quality that will last and not something that's hot for a season and overly trendy...i like timeless style

2) Be comfortable in your clothing...treat it as if it was your second skin. There's nothing less sexier than trying too hard.

Nothing will ever be the new black!
I know so many people who go on about how boring, depressing and dated it is, but I love it and wear a LOT of black.

My rules are:

Pants MUST be long in length. ( I am 6'0 so I OBSESS over an inseam that is over 36 inches long, I cant stand it when my pants are too short and MY socks show, it totally ruins my day)

And shirts must fit, The sleeves MUST be long enough to cover my wrist down to my thumb. If it doesnt I WONT wear it. I cant stand sleeves too short.

My pants HAVE to cover my heel

NO fleece, whatsoever, no exceptions

The thread is called "Your Personal Rules of Fashion". That's one of my personal rules that I apply to myself. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it.

I agree, but again, that's just one person's personal rule. :flower:

1. Never go unshaved
2. Don't wear white socks with dark clothing
3. Clean your shoes/sneakers
4. Be yourself, although u can copy a bit the look from someone, just take a little of inspiration and then do the rest yourself
5. Don't wear HUGE or lots of logos
6. Don't wear baggy jeans or jeans/khakis that are so long that they sweep the floor!

gotcha ;)

Be yourself not a copy of a fashion dictator. Be comfortable and the hell with everyone else.

1. Overflow is thy enemy.
2. Thine pantlegs shall not be tapered
3. Thou shalt avoid overly clingy dresses, as they invite the eyes to thy rounded hips
4. Thou shalt not indulge in the too-tight game, as thou shalt only appear unfortunate.
5. Thou shalt not indulge in the too-baggy game, either.
6. Thou shalt love structured designs, lending lines and edges to thy figure.
7. Thou shalt not pair a light bottom with a dark top.
8. Thou shalt not steal another's style without giving due credit.
9. Thou shalt try on items before thine purchase. Always.
10. When in doubt, thou shalt channel thy inner sassy lady and make like it's all intentional.

The simple 4

Dress in what makes you feel good about yourself
Dress in what's comfortable not just physically, but mentally are you comfortable with it...is it really you?
Dress for yourself first instead of dressing to impress everyone else.
Dress in what works with what you got, work those best features!
