Your personal fashion rules

1. If unsure, far better to go to an event overdressed than underdressed, thus at least showing respect for the occassion.
2. Too much color coordination = Paris Hilton tacky. Nobody needs to be in head to toe pink, no matter if the hues vary.
3. Quality over quantity, always.
4. If something works very well for you -- buy multiples and make it your signature. Polos happen to be something of a trademark of mine -- I own practically every colour Ralph Lauren and Burberry make.
5. Never wear clothing that you're truly not thin enough to wear. Be honest.
6. Never wear faux jewelry, unless you can pull it off in a very light-hearted manner. Nothing is more tacky than attempting to pass off a CZ as a diamond with a haughty attitude.
7. As with no faux jewelry, no faux handbags of any sort. Tacky, tacky, tracky.
8. No polyester. No exceptions.
9. Posture is important: learn how to carry your clothes.
10. Don't let an outfit overcome you... you're wearing the dress, the dress isn't wearing you. Once again, posture is key.

Contrast. I always tell anyone if they ask me for fashion tips. I love it..
I hate matching every single thing or those people who have to match bag to shoe..Ugh.

and

If you feel like crap, Just wear Black.

just be yourself. as long as you're comfortable with what you're wearing, you can strut your stuff. you can be the most gorgeous person in the world.

try experimenting. there's no harm on trying different stuff.

...and it's all about CONFIDENCE baby! B)

i dont like red and pink together looks weird also navy and black!

apart from that nothing really just enjoy wearing clothes! :P

My rules:
  • Never wear denim with other denim
  • Always have appropriate supporting underwear (ie: strapless bra/hollywood tape/stick on bras have to be used when necessary)
  • Always wear make up to match the attire
  • Never wear tight white pants/skirts/pedalpushers/etc
  • Add at least one element of colour (whether it be in accessories or shoes)
  • Always purchase clothes that you can wear to more than one occasion (exception: formals, balls, etc)
Last & not the least: it is better to over dress than under dress!

My Simple Tips :)

- never, ever wear navy and blue together it just dosnt go

- if you have boots, dont wear trousers tucked inside of them, its horrible, or long jeans, try and buy cropped jeans, it works better lol

- ankle swingers! i hate! thats when the trousers are too short for you, so simple tip for boys and girls get a length that will fit, and not make it look like it has grown out of you lol

- socks with flat shoes, dosnt look right, expecially when they are patterned

- underlaying clothing in winter is fine although avoid wearing them with hoods on, its just awaful the look of hoodies clustered together (me i dont wear hoodies that much, but i just dont think it looks right when you wear mroe than one)

- i dont like copied styles, or a replica of style, i go with my own style, pick up ideas but dont go with the "crowd" coz you will look like twins at the end of the day

- dont mix casual style with sport style, i have seen that around and it is really not right, like a nice casual blouse with a pair of tracksuit bottoms eugh! awful

- summer is for bright colourful clothes but i see people wearing black clothes, its summer its ment to be bright and bold.

- wear something that will suit your figure. i have seen people who have abided this rule, lol. they wear very, and i mean very tight trousers over there stomachs thats not right, my tip is to wear loose trousers underneath the stomach and a simple shirt over it to hide the stomach and there you go :)

- another thing i dont like is tight trousers that are made of cotton material! erugh! like stretch fabric material, and very very tight, i really dont like that

anyway, im here fot advice lol if anybody needs it, loving these forums by the way

My rules:

- No black (or as little as possible)
- No fake bake
- No dark lip liner (look at Eminems ex )
- Whenever you purchase an item, make sure it matches something you already own.
- Try to find classic pieces with a twist - they'll make people gasp for years
- Find a designer that creates pieces for your body type
- Wear as much "feminine" fabrics as possible (silk, chiffon etc / am slim so it suits my body type)
- Wear skirts as often as you can - knee length, both pencil and a-line

No denim + denim
Never wear white socks with dark outfit
No logos

hybridization is my fave rule ... dont go all the way with just one look/label ... do preppy vs. military or something like that ... I always go for the dress-up/dress-down look ... I do not like prints/patterns at all ... logos are not OK ... stay away from yellow as much as you can .. anything that glitters is not OK .. if you're going to glow/sparkle, do it strictly for the evenings ... dont do the one color in different tones thing ... it'll end up you looking like a blurry spot ... no white socks at all ... if you're the least hesitant about a body part you're not satisfied with (in my case .. my feet) DO NOT show it! ... layering its plus on my list ... dont go overboard on accesories ... eyewear is always good .. never leave w/o shades ...there are many rules .. this are all I can think of at this moment

I love layering and mixing different looks. I also love throwing in vintage items because an original look is key. Vintage is also good for those of us who can't afford the designer clothes but want a unique look. I would never wear all black or all anything for that matter. I love colors and prints and sparkle, but not too much. I think layering different proportions is also important. Like an oversize sweater with tight jeans/pants or a voluminous skirt with a slim top. ;)

I don't ever wear polo shirts nor brown.
And I have received a brown polo shirt as a present. And a brown sweater too. Have to scream:-)))

-never wear jeans with denim jacket
-no head-to-toe in the same colour
-no platforms
-baggy top+tight fitting trousers or skirt/ baggy trousers or skirt+tight fitting top. Never all baggy or all tight fitting
-no white socks
-always round-toes
-no tights in summer
-no fur or animal print
-no gold or hight jewellery
-no gold watches
-no logos
-always a stylish scarve
-no matching jewellery

I think anything goes,

...as long as it's done true to one's personal style. Fashion changes so much that a "Never" rule one season is often recreated as a "Must" the next. Some of the best new styles have come about from breaking the rules so badly that the outfit worked... I've learned to never say never.

That said, my own personal rule is not to mix my metals. I totally accept it in others, but my upbringing in Manila prevents me from doing it! I was in a car with my mom, who was looking out the window at another person in the next car, and then she shuddered. I asked her what was wrong, and she said, "That woman was wearing gold jewelry with her silver jewelry." At the impressionable age of maybe 9, that left a a rule seared into my nascent fashion sensibilities: Never Mix Your Metals.

Although nowadays, I'll make an exception if I have an article of clothing/jewelry on me that mixes the two, giving me leeway to wear a pair of jeans with brass rivets and buttons with a bag that has silver fittings. Which is why I hunted down this Helmut Lang bracelet all over the planet (to no avail - it was never produced!), because it would have allowed me to mix my golds and my silvers!

YEah, anal. I'm a Virgo, I can't help it. :D

I definitely like to wear colorful clothes, which I layer to make the look more interesting ^_^ . I also like to wear clothes that move, like flowy skirts and dresses (stiff clothes are  ). I don't like to stick to a set uniform because I think it's more interesting to have variety, even though some people can look very stylish wearing a uniform. I also like to balance a mini with cute flats or a baggier shirt. Last, I wear pretty skirts, or high-heeled sandals, even if everyone else in my school are in jeans and tees. It doesn't bother me that I'm always dressier than everyone else (along with my twin sister  ).

My rules are reasonably simple for myself:
-No browns (just don't seem to look good against asian skin in my opinion)
-No logos (the most i can handle is the prada red stripe at the corner of the hem)
-dark shoes, dark socks
-all shirts must fit at the shoulders (shoulder seams should cut right where the break is)
-pants and jeans should sit on the hips, not at the waist.

The one rule I cannot stand, that some people seem to enforce for odd reasons is no wearing white after labor day. I LOVE rocking white sneakers with black or dark outfits. I think the contrast really sets you apart.

I should get into more colors... right now I'm very dependent on red, gray, black, white.

Fashion No-Nos you live by!
