All in all...bravo to McQueen for allowing the capitalists to destroy your vision. One less of our most treasured visionaires gone to the snakes :ninja:
Well, if it's between McQueen never designing again because Gucci drops him and he goes bankrupt, or McQueen continuing to design and put out collections that are still clever but slightly more commercial, I'll take the latter. Troubled economic times don't exactly nurse creativity. This is called desperation and we're seeing it at Viktor & Rolf, at Balenciaga, at Chalayan. These are all previously experimental designers that are desperate to sell. If they don't, they get the axe. It's a sad situation but what can really be done? If they're smart, then they'll distill their creative essence into easy clothing that still retain a certain edge about them, as I believe McQueen has done here. It's not a bad collection by any stretch of the imagination.

That sounds true.

Words: Jurgi Persoons, Bankrupt.

I quite like this collection actually. I admit I am rather disappointed with the commercial-ness of it all, but, like metal-on-metal pointed out, McQueen does need to make a profit at the end of the day......

Desperate - Balenciaga? I don't get it....that collection was the best I've seen in quite some time. However, I like this McQueen collection also. Lovely green dress on MariaCarla. And yesss...the tight black leather outfit on Bianca.....:flower:

I like this collection. It's not the best of this season, but it beats 77% of what New Yor, London, and Paris had to offer.

But Alexander, I used to have the biggest crush on you, and you have no idea what I would do with you if we're ever in the same room. And I also love Kate Moss. But please don't make your teeth look like that again. The crush wore off because of the teeth.

On a more serious note, Even if McQueen got out of the asylum and will never come back, I think the clothes have this unworldly element about them that makes me say yay. I mean, i miss the theatrics, but the clothes don't need it.

those heavyweight belts seem to be popping up - wt?

My guess is that it's simply a "The waist is in" statement. And about time too - the waist has been so underestimated the last 15 yrs.

Is this really considered commercial? I definitely wouldn't call it avant-garde, but I don't know about commercial. Seems too skimpy to really appeal to the mass market don't you think? Maybe 'tacky' is the word :innocent:

It's commercial for McQueen standards, but it's not like it's an Olympus Fashion Week collection or anything. I like what I am seeing so far. The angel dress seems to be very beautiful. I would love to see more!

great point m-o-m but i seriously doubt if he will get more money out of turning to a good erhhmmm versace

personally i dont mind too much his 'ideas' in this collection but i have a BIG issue with his lengths
i mean.. the 'return of the mini dress'
i find this very ancient looking and very out of tune with today's esthetics

and yes, some of the looks posted are almost vulgar..
the hair and the whole look is a bit brooke shields..

thanks for the pictures posted guys :flower:

Yes it is a bit Brooke Shields for Calvin Klein - isn't it? Both the hair and the eye make up. Except the hair is a bit more Gucci slicked.

I need to see more... I like what I see so far (minus the gladiator belts..)..

I don't think asylum McQueen is ever coming back sadly.. but I do agree "Commercial" McQueen is better than NO McQueen

i like the new novak bag.

I was just contemplating whether it was worthwhile to post that I hated it ;) I like the Novak in general, but none of the ones with just leather trim are really doing it for me, although the canvas for fall was preferable to this one or the knit. I think this bag needs to be all leather/skin to looks its best ...

The T looks like a one-off, but I suspect popular demand may land it in the boutiques ...
