I just checked the website, seeing as how this show was my confessed obsession, before I left for camp... Quite nice how they waited for me to return, before starting this new season. I'm not however, impressed with this new set of girls. As another has said, they're mostly not even girls at all. There's also the height issue, which I should be liking, but really- 5'7" and 5'8"s? As for that "educated" girl... she also used the word "good," when she ought to have said "well." So much for her. I must say that I best liked the personality of Sara, who seemed likeable with that lips thing. Not pretty in a different way at all though. None of them are particularly modelesque... but Twiggy! That alone will make the new show worth watching.

No offense, but have you guys even seen model polaroids? Models look pretty funky and weird in their polaroids, and the latest ANTM fare at least as well in polaroid form as most models do. Based on the polaroids alone, I'd say Bre and Kim have the most potential. Bre has that buggy Heather Marks thing going, while Kim looks like a little, pudgier Linda E. I have yet to see their videos.

While I agree that those girls are exceptions to the height rule; but honestly, there are so few and far in between that will actually get work who are shorter. It depends on so much.. what the fashion industry has deemed "It" at the moment, if they get the right bookings with all the right photographers, if they get the right campaigns. And one of the main reasons Devon Aoki become "big" was because of her family, she came from a rich family.. kind of like how Lydia Hearst gets a lot of work because of her family [Hearst Publications].. There are definite exceptions to the height, but then you need to compensate in some other way, great photo presence, great personality, family connections, stunning looks. A short model will most likely not get signed unless they are extraordinary.

And younger models can't apply in the US because of certain child labor laws, even when applying, you have to show proof that you are over 18.

As they should. Fashion models are supposed to look weird and striking but somehow the gritty reality of polaroids brings out all their "oddities" in a bad way. Commercial models usually look much prettier in polaroids.

Actually alot of new models go to south africa and do very well and build tear sheets, experience, and etc. and then come to the US and do well.
