Asian Eyes

My eye lids are hooded like Gemma's and Sasha's. So it's hard to apply eyeshadows and liners. Thanks for the pics.

My two favourite looks for Asian eyes are so easy and simple. I find that the less you fuss with Asian eyes, the better.
The first one is more dramatic. Its very French but so simple. All you need: Benefit Bad Gal Smudgey Black Eyeliner and a Red Lipstick or Gloss (Mac's RubyWoo or any Nars glosses). Draw eyeliner on top lid and bottom lid. For the top lid, towards the outer corner of the eyes, draw it outwards as this will give the impression of bigger eyes. For bottom lid, dont ever draw inside the eye. This will make them look squinty. Smudge really well. Top off by curling eyelashes and a dash of mascara. Smear on the red lippy/gloss and voila, HOTNESS.
Another favourite is the Dior Baby Blue Eyeshadow. I find that it really suits fair Asian skin tones. I've never found a more flattering shade of eyeshadow. Most of my Caucasian friends shudder at the sight of blue eyeshadow, but Dior does an awesome light blue thats so velvety soft and shimmery, its amazing.

uber_carmen, do you have any pictures of the first look? I've always wanted to learn how to properly put on a smokey look.

Hey there, I might. I did it last night to go with this really nice black dress I had on. Was trying to channel Eva Green the new Bond girl. Unfortunately, didn't get any pictures last night. But I've got a 21st tonight and I'll make sure I'll get photos. Get back to you a bit later. :flower:

I recommend a light hand. I always think less is more. My mother is a very natural woman and she always tells me not to be too heavy with the black eyeliner. Just put enough so it makes your eye pop and look smudgeyly sexy. Think the new bond girl in Casino Royale, Eva Green. Check out her photos in the Eva Green forum under Star Style. That's what I'm talking about.

thanks, :) it is always a problem for me as my mind always have a lil voice tell me to pile more eyeliner for no reason :P

ambidextrous that's gorgeous!!! I love it that you play around with a lot of different colours because I do too. I'm not the type to stick to just one single palette of earth tone shades. Golden_Butterfly is spot on. Your blending is perfect! How do you do it? Do you use some kind of eye base / primer first?
My eyes are quite close in shape to yours. Almond shaped with a small double lid and not deep set.
I especially love the black/grey look .. second from left, last row.

Yes, I think so. I have it when I was sleeping in a wrong position, it looks horrible :yuk: Anyone knows how to move the crease into it's right place? It usually lasts an hour or so.

Happens to me too! I think it's easier for us to get triple creases because we don't have deep set eyes (where the crease would obviously be in the deep part of the eye socket area).

Usually the triple crease happens when my eyes are slightly puffy so I put some cooling pads on them and then just put a small piece of surgical tape to correct the crease back to it's original position. Leave the surgical tape in place for about 15 minutes and usually, the triple crease goes away. Remember to take the tape off before you leave the house though. You don't want people staring and wondering what's that piece of white stuff falling off your eyelids!

thanx @ bluestar :flower:

I recently got the MAC Dress Sets Pigments, even more colors to mix and play around :woot:

Ambidextrous: your pics are amazing!

Is it too much trouble to ask you to instruct us which shadows you used where for a few looks? Maybe you can do just the bottom row because you have so many (the 2 on the bottom left are my favorites).

Thanks!

I hope you can see the eye-makeup properly on this photo. Its not very good but I don't take many photos. This one has the second look I was talking about in post 282, with the Dior Baby Blue Eyeshadow Single Quad. I'll see if I can use photo program thingos to zoom in on the eye.
This is a very natural look. The emphasis is more "I'm such a nice girl" - good for proper functions or family type events, I guess. My mom has this thing about black eyeliner - she just doesn't like smoky eyes very much at all.
With this look, I also used a little bit of Lancome foundation (just a tad, you still want dewy skin to shine through), Nars Orgasm Blush, Rimmel Black Kohl Liner and Dior Addict Lipstick in Rose Panorama.

Thats is a really pretty and clean look for you Carmen, I saw an asian girl who had black eyeshadows on her top lids, (no bottom) Long but not thick false eyelashes and plumish lipstick. Was sooo pretty. I think the fake eyelashes really softens the look.

sure I can (as far as I remember the proper colors  ):

I used either Artdeco Eyebase or MAC Shadestick in Beige-Ing for every look (I guess Urban Decay Primer Potion will be an equal or even better substitute)
bottom row from left to right:
* the brown shade is the darkest one in the Chanel Travel Collection Palette (available at Air Ports and on airlines), then the shimmering brownish on the inside is MAC Twillery (from the Inventive Eyes Quad), black khol liner on the bottom with MAC Carbon e/s and Lancôme Color Design e/s in Sentimental Blue #703 (the turquois shimmery stuff)
* the whitish highlighter is a blend of MAC e/s in White Frost and Goldmine, the black with shimmer is from the German brand Essence in Superstar #14 (so easy blendable though it's not even 2€ ^_^ ),again some Carbon to set the black khol
* same highlighter mix, the blue color is MAC e/s in Freshwater with a little Carbon e/s to make it darker
* MAC e/s in Fade (the light blue on the top lid), Carbon e/s and for the blue-violetish shade on the bottom: MAC Vellum e/s
* White Frost & Goldmine highlighter mix under brows, the dark blue shade consists of (all MAC e/s): Freshwater, Carbon and Vellum blended before applying, the yellowish shimmer is "White Wheat" from the Inventive Eyes Quad

if you are interested in the eye shadows from the other looks, just post it :flower:

^ What brush do you use for blending?

as for the hightlighter under the brow I use the MAC #213 Fluff brush. To pack on color on the moveable lid I mostly use H&M sponge tip applicators, cheapish an work well, except for the fact that the sponge part can come off if you are washing it... just have to put it back in place. other spong tips will do also, I did have a MAC sponge tip applicator but the sponge part itself began to crumble  bad quality for a high price. Then I use the MAC #219 Pencil brush for the lower lid, mainly to pack on the black e/s to line and to give the smokey eyes effect.

However, the most important tool are still my fingers, especially for blending dark colors on the upper lid with the highlighter

HTH! And btw thanx for your karma Bluestar07! :flower:

I agree :) i like devon when she wear light makeup, dark colour make her look too edgy
