Catherine, Princess of Wales (Kate Middleton)

judging by her latest outfit, it's clear she isn't using a stylist anymore. What an awful outfit. That coat is too long and ill-fitting. And then the boots...
That style of dressing just looks a bit too old and back to frumpy again. Also, that belt is an eyesore. Mary looks much better. Casual, simple yet professional. Kate's outfit, whilst frumpy, looks slightly loud and ott in comparison

Two of my favorite ladies!
I always love red on her. This is no exception. I do wish she would have worn her hair half up or a headband...something more polished and out of her face.-_-

I've said before and I'll say it again. She hasn't asked to be style icon, it's a side-effect of what she actually is, created by the media. I don't think for a second she has ever wanted to be seen like that. Unfortunately, to a certain degree, the fact that they were there to highlight Unicefs work in Somalia seems to have become secondary to what she's wearing. That said, I do like that she wore red again though.

Right on the mark with this statement! :flower: Kate never asked to be labeled as a style icon. It's a by-product of being a princess. As part of her royal duties she does have to look presentable but she isn't required to be "iconic" by any means. Only the press seems to think that dressing well and having a title makes her worthy of style icon status.
Also, I think part of the reason why her style is getting such focus is because of the comparisons to Princess Diana. I mean no one can compare to her, but I do think the media (and quite a lot of people) wish for someone else in the British monarchy to capture people's hearts just like Princess Di did. And Kate has been labeled as that person (whether or not she wants to be). I'll admit, I do love seeing what she will wear, but I'd love even more to see the media focus on her charitable works and whatnot. She's in a position to use her voice to help make changes in whatever cause she believes in but it's a shame that it isn't being as herd as much as it could be. ^_^

Lk Bennett Ami Red Coat

I was browsing in Sloane Street (London) today and saw the red Ami coat in both's Lk Bennett shops, it isn't sold out like the ebay sellers seem to claim! they have loads of sizes left.
But my point is that it was disappointing in real life. the wool is itchy to the touch and looks thinner that it should be for that price.
I Have got much better coats from Joseph and Whistles. So I would defo not fork out £245 for it.
I don't think it looks bad on her, it suits her including the fit, because she is taller that the average lady, like myself (1m58). :p

Not a fan of the coat, (or that belt) but the colour is perfect on her. She really rocks red and blue well.

The red coat as a color was lovely but the length and fit was unflattering. I thought it was a bit too long and looked a bit big. I don't understand why she would match such a belt with th look, it seemed a bit too old for her.

Her hair - Pity it was left down as it totally covered the high neck collar or the coat. I also find she fiddles with her hair a lot when left open.

She definitely still needs to work on her confidence in interviews, so now I get this whole "princess training" story. She's not exactly up to par quite yet.

I hate to draw the compassion, but her poise and style is so much like Diana. Very lovely.

But Kate hasn't helped things. She won't admit her post-marriage style improvement is due to help. She wants us to think it's all her.

I can't follow this logic. How does not saying anything about fashion or style equal trying to convince the public she does not use a stylist and is naturally stylish? She's not Blake Lively, she's not doing numerous fashion spreads and boasting about friendships with designers and then conveniently forgetting to mention she uses a stylist in the same interview.

After the engagement, Kate also completely transformed her body to get in shape for the wedding. Yet she has not said anything about her diet or workout routine. Does that also mean she is trying to hide she got help from a personal trainer and she wants us to believe it was all natural metabolism?

Princess Charlene of Monaco has also not said a word about her numerous cosmetic surgeries. By your logic, this must mean she is trying to convince the world her teeth, lips, cheeks, etc. are all natural.

^The palace made a whole bruhaha about her not hiring a stylist. They want us to believe that she does it all herself.

What masquerade said.

And news reports prior to the wedding were all abuzz about how Kate was telling friends and family she wanted to get fit for the wedding. Just because she doesn't speak that often doesn't mean there aren't leaks from insiders. It wasn't a secret that she wanted to be in shape for the big day. Even E! News reported on 'insiders at the Palace say Kate is skiiing more often blah blah blah.' (E! isn't a legit news source..but even THEY reported in the countdown to the wedding..., but I'm sure you get my point: her desire to be toned for the big day was being reported by sources to the media.)

I think Caroliiine's point was that she doesn't publicly state any of this. So, it shouldn't be asserted that she pretends to be one thing or another.;)

very well said.
I don't get all this buzz around stylists. What's the problem if she has one? To be honest I won't like more or less her style due to the fact that she has help or not.
