The Middleton sisters have no sense of style whatsoever -_- I don't know how they get on best dressed lists, only because they're "it-girls".
Kate has most class and better taste though, and she manages to pull a hell of a lot off just because of the way she looks, her body shape and height. I don't think her hair is as nice as everyone says though
I watched a documentary called "Kate and Pippa" on E!, and you can see even eight or so years ago Kate had a lot of potential to have great style. Shame she hasn't used that potential yet :/

I don´t like that "Military-Uniform-Look" she is often wearing. it seems that she is dressing hereself up for her "Princess-Job" :(

The belt is tacky but she looks good in red.

Agreed. I can't even give her props for it because she won't admit that is what she's doing. Princess Diana made many fashion mistakes, but she was upfront about the fact that she dressed up for the people.

Love the bright red coat. Mary is quite short, isn't she?

What are you talking about? Mary is almost as tall as Kate, and they both have heels on, and Kate is 5'10". That is almost freakishly tall for a woman.

Red is clearly a great Kate color, and I've always liked the boots. But, yeah, the belt is a misstep.

I wouldn't call Kate an it-girl. We only ever see her when she's doing her royal duties and she certainly doesn't court attention like her sister does. I think her style during the tour was fantastic. I don't really look up to her as some style icon as she clearly doesn't care that much about fashion. She doesn't pick an outfit thinking, "This will get me in the papers tomorrow". She picks clothes that are true to her style. Always has, always will. I mean, she'll dress up when she has to but there isn't that dedication there that people strangely seem to think she has. That's ok, it's not a big deal. I'm sure she has other passions.

I personally don't think Kate is an it-girl either, but I meant that is how she is portrayed in the papers and in magazines etc. She is an English Rose, people love her, people want to emulate her style, and even though there is more hype surrounding Pippa these days, there are obviously thousands who still think 'Would Kate wear this?'. I think people have been brain-washed (not that extreme, obviously) by the media into thinking that the Middletons' style is the way to go. I agree that Kate's tour wardrobe was quite nice, but I have not one good thing to say about Pippa .
Her butt's not even that nice.

The problem, as always, is the press as you said. They love to tout so-and-so as the next big thing or the style icon of the year. It's quite infuriating but you just have to deal with the media like that. Personally I don't know any of those weird brainwashed people that follow every trend in sight (including the Middletons). I think people should realise that this is her style and she's not ever going to be daring. Style doesn't really define you and your whole life!

It particularly annoys me when celebrities who are clearly styled are always considered to be style icons! I mean even most of them say themselves that they would be nothing without their stylists. But that's another story.

She looks ok, but her outfit is nothing special. I really dislike the belt, I think it makes her toros look a bit odd.

I've said before and I'll say it again. She hasn't asked to be style icon, it's a side-effect of what she actually is, created by the media. I don't think for a second she has ever wanted to be seen like that. Unfortunately, to a certain degree, the fact that they were there to highlight Unicefs work in Somalia seems to have become secondary to what she's wearing. That said, I do like that she wore red again though.

But Kate hasn't helped things. She won't admit her post-marriage style improvement is due to help. She wants us to think it's all her. Um, right. I remember her mismatched color combinations. Those big-*** brown boots that she wore with everything, appropriate or not. The boxy brown leather jacket she paired with everything. She wants us to think she's always been THIS stylish when she hasn't. It's great she's discovered Erdem and McQueen. It's great that she's looking more polished and put together. That her clothes actually are properly coordinated. But it has nothing to do with her, and everything to do with the help she won't admit to having because she wants us to think she's the Everywoman, the Girl Next Door. Above Fashion while being Fashionable. Which is bull****.

And when exactly was the last time she actually spoke in public? Or in an interview? She never even talks about her style! So whatever vibe you get from her is purely based on assumption.

^Thank you, I was just going to say the same thing. She doesn't do interviews per say, not about her style at least, I mean today when she was on the news talking about Unicef I was actually shocked they got that out of her publicly.

Yes, it is based on assumption. However most royals have admitted to using help from time to time. Diana did, and nobody thinks Diana is less of a style icon for getting guidance. Hell, even Jackie O, who was as flawless as they come when it comes to style, turned to Diana Vreeland when formulating her White House style. So, yes, I'm going to roll my eyes at the assertions that Kate is a style Superwoman, with no help at all. Kate's style wasn't hideous before marriage, but it was unchanging. Overnight, she suddenly...looked like a high society lady rather than a typical Sloanie. She admits she doesn't care about fashion, therefore one can infer it is because she has a stylist.

I frankly don't understand why she thinks there's something wrong with admitting to having a stylist. Everybody knows Anne Hathaway's stylist is Rachel Zoe. Does that make Anne Hathaway less of a movie star? No. It just means Anne gives credit where credit is due rather than acting like she, Anne, is the sole reason she looks great on the red carpet.

I couldn't comment on the reaction to Diana admitting she used help because I wasn't alive at the time. However, I'd imagine there'd be a fair bit of backlash in the British press for 'frivolous spending' if she had hired a stylist. It sounds pathetic but it's definitely a possibilty.

Before her America tour, the palace did release a statement saying she had used a personal shopper. This could be a pseudonym?

Well, from the way the Diana style books tell it, all she basically had to do was call up XY in the industry and they hooked up her up with XO designers who sent her appropriate designs and Diana basically choose what she wanted from that pile (with help from XY.) So no one was officially a stylist, but they were all there to guide her. But Diana acknowledged they worked in that capacity for her. That it wasn't all Diana alone. (An oddball way to have a stylist, but it's also how Diana ended up becoming friends with so many people who worked in the British fashion industry.)

Whoever personal shopper is, that person is probably functioning as the stylist.
