I really like it :) I would have loved something else than those black shoes and a change of hairstyle but I really like the silhouette and especially the collar.

I like that dress, but it is too old for her. I think if it had been style differently (a pop of colour with the handbag and/or shoes) and her hair done differently, she could have made it work.

Kate Middleton at the National Portrait Gallery (February 8).

I really love the outfit. It's very pretty. If only she changed her hair once in a while. At least she cut it a bit.

coat dresses are hideous but regardless of that, they are far more associated with older ladies. Incredibly frumpy. She has plenty of time to dress like this when she's in her 40, 50s

I really like the collar of this dress, and I'm a big fan of grey too. But it is, as everyone has said, a bit old for her. Plus would look so much nicer if she had an updo and the neckline was really on display!

I do like the outfit, she looks classic and elegant, but I have to agree it makes her look older.

I think she looks quite pretty and it's a nice dress. However, is it me or does her face look fuller or her hair seems different as in it seems quite flat at the top thus making her face fuller. I hope that makes sense.

I really like the dress. The shape is lovely and the collar adds a bit of elegance to it. On a side not, isn't she exiting the car in an "improper" fashion??

She never knew how to do it. Even back in the day  (and yes sadly paparazzi were not scrupulous regarding the matter and some embarrassing pictures were taken more often than not -___-")

The wife of the King of England in 2012. Age appropriate, well Catherine isn't 40 yet. Event appropriate - it's an Art event. It's not some conservative church or strictly Royal event at the palace

another dress hatred?

 I think this smart warm dress was a very smart choice knowing how cold it is here in London. -2 or -3 in the evenings/night, cold breeze that creeps on you. It has been like this for days now and I think this dress is totally apporpriate and is a great compromise in style and practicality. She could have worn a coat over a dress and nobody would have been the wiser.

The grey is a classic melange tone, the shape highlights her waist, her legs and shoulderblades.
the belt for once is a great subtle complimenting accessory, as opposed to that thick red belt she wore on that too long red LK coat she had last months.

She probably spent 2 min outside between her car and the National Portrait Gallery which is by no means cold at all. No pictures of her interacting with any onlookers so she didn't sign autograph or take pictures hence why your argument is invalid imo...

But I agree with the rest of your post :flower: I just wish her bag and shoes would have been less dull and her hair up.
