I went digging through tumblr and it does look deliberate. Also, it's not that high. When she's in the center walking around, she's not holding her skirt down with her hands.

Normally, I love houndstooth, but I don't really care for this look on her. Can't pinpoint why exactly.

I do like that she did something different with her hair though. Nice to see bangs again, even if the rest of the length is much the same.

The black & white of the houndstooth saps Catherine's skin of its rosy glow. These just aren't her colors. As for the style of the dress, including the slit, I don't have a problem with it. Looks reasonably conservative to me. I want to see more photos of her new hair style.
