"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have today visited a vaccination centre at Westminster Abbey where they lit a candle and laid flowers to remember the 126,000 people who have died in Britain during the pandemic.

The royal couple praised the efforts of those driving the UK's world-leading Covid-19 jab scheme as Britain remembers the tens of thousands of people who have died during the pandemic.

William and Kate walked down the aisle in the cathedral they married in on April 29, 2011, with the country's most famous church now helping with the vaccination effort, vaccinating 2,000 people a week in Poets’ Corner." 3/23/21

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge stands at the Galilee Porch of St George's Chapel during the funeral of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, at Windsor Castle on April 17, 2021 in Windsor, England. Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark was born 10 June 1921, in Greece. He served in the British Royal Navy and fought in WWII. He married the then Princess Elizabeth on 20 November 1947 and was created Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, and Baron Greenwich by King VI. He served as Prince Consort to Queen Elizabeth II until his death on April 9 2021, months short of his 100th birthday. His funeral takes place today at Windsor Castle with only 30 guests invited due to Coronavirus pandemic restrictions.

Do we know who designed the coat (or coat dress)? I guess all the royals who attended are ordering new black outfits this week ...

^ Agreed. Even her mask is clearly custom and fits to perfection. (And congrats to her for not having floppy ears like mine  I really have to have the elastics behind my head.)

Catherine Walker was my first thought for the coat, but wasn't positive.

All these posts from dailymail got me wondering, is it not weird they keep referring to her as Kate Middleton? I know that is (or was?) her name but is it still the official preferred name?

Love the last look.

^ I hear that a lot as well. Do you have to be born a Windsor?

I was just watching something about Prince Philip ... I didn't realize he'd formally proposed changing the House of Windsor to the House of Mountbatten, which in my mind was a proposal doomed from the moment it occurred to him. Seriously? Because you're having a fit that your children won't have your name, you think the House of Windsor, which at least sounds English after a seriously Germanic predecessor (House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha I believe), should be changed to your own made-up, Anglicized form of Battenberg? Perhaps it didn't seem like such crazy talk when it was closer to 1917. I saw that 'Mountbatten-Windsor' can be used for family members who aren't the Queen's heirs (and I'm not quite sure who that would be, because you can trace the succession forever, to thousands of people).

It's not the 'official preferred name', it's what the media & fans call her, because that way she seems more relatable (also because that's the name everyone knew her by for what... almost ten years?). She's HRH Duchess of Cambridge or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

Anyway, I must agree with everyone else, she looked absolutely incredible at the funeral.

The Queen & Prince Philip both took that decision, because they wanted their direct descendants to be distinguished from the rest of the royal family. Harry & Meghan's son has the last name of Mountbatten-Windsor. William's children use Cambridge as their last name at school. So all the descendants who don't have the style of Royal Highness or Prince/Princess, have the family last name, which is Mountbatten-Windsor (that excludes William & Catherine's children since they all have a title, and also Princess Beatrice & Princess Eugenie (bc of title, but also bc they are now married)). Prince Edward's children also have the family last name.

And, the name is also used by members of the family who don't have a surname in instances when a surname is required. For example, Prince William used it years ago to file a lawsuit against the paparazzi.

Also, it's only the last name they changed, it's still the House of Windsor.

I'm sorry to keep going at this, but I wanted to add that Prince Philip didn't anglicize the name. Prince Henry of Battenberg & Prince Louis of Battenberg (Prince Philip's maternal grandfather) married into the British Royal Family in the 19th century. And during WWI Prince Louis, his children, and also Prince Henry's children anglicized the name (Battenhill was also an option) & renounced their German titles, for obvious reasons. Prince Philip took the last name after he gave up his Greek & Danish titles to marry Elizabeth. It's all obviously a bit more complicated, but this is a pretty brief summary.

I thought maybe the DM is trying to be shady by not referring to her by her royal title.

Most of the cloth masks she has worn are child-size masks. That may be why they look so fitted.

"Prince William, 38, and Kate Middleton, 39, who spent much of lockdown living in their Norfolk home of Anmer Hall with their children Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, three, travelled up to Darlington to visit Manor Farm today. The couple were given a tour of the fifth-generation family-run mixed cattle, sheep and arable farm near Darlington, and were seen visiting the cattle, calving and lambing sheds with owners Clare Wise and Stewart Chapman."
