Catherine, Princess of Wales (Kate Middleton)

She looks elder than she really is.. plus she isn't something special, that just catches your eye. But of course if the prince likes her then she's fine.

I really wouldn't say she's middleclass. Her parents make seven figure salaries as far as I know. But that hat is atrocious  Seriously.

By middle class - I meant by the English social class structure. Middle class can encompass anything from millionaires to modest doctors and lawyers. It's the nature of their wealth as in they're not aristocracy.

Bah, I hate the english class system

The Mirror said that her mother was an air stewardess. She's middle class.

By the way, does anyone know what school she went to...did she go boarding, or just to your regular private school?

she dresses middle aged imo.. this is how every woman in the forties dresses in england. with the odd exseption.

i think she's really pretty, seems grounded, its really nice that prince william likes "normal" girls. i like how shes not all trashed up with fake tan, fake hair and 1 million balenciaga bags! she is a perfect english rose, and she seems reserved. i love english girls, they almost seem *perfect* :)

haha the english class system is confusing. She looks like a nice girl.

But what I really mean by that is I can't stand the girl.

(I Want William) :p nahh as long as he's happy. :flower:

Yeah...she seems pretty enough, but just so blah...so boring. She's one of those girls that don't seem to have any sparkle about them. She reminds me a bit of Emmy Rossum...plainly pretty face, but kinda dead eyes.

And her outfit at the wedding is pretty much a similar version of what Camilla was wearing...so yeah, she does dress middle aged.

I think she's lovely. But that hat thing she wore to the wedding... Is it popular for young women in England to wear them?

Her style is very conservative for someone her age, but it's better than those girls who expose their midriffs and show too much skin!

In England, generally, it is expected that women wear hats to wedding. Not necessarily young girls, but it's a big deal here from my experience.

ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND - JUNE 23 - Graduates with Prince William

St. Andrews is a deeply frightening university.

There's a certain breed of girls from somwhere around Shropshire (no offence to any girls from Shropshire) who seem to have had their jaws substituted for the lower mandible of their favourite nag.

I thought she came from quite a well to do family? Also Marlborough College-quite a 'proper' school non?

She comes from a well-off family, yes, but they are not one of the grand aristocratic families. The Middletons may be something like upper middle-class or lower upper-class. They are quite like many wealthy families in the world, living a comfortable life but not having a crazily, unlimited fortune like a Bill Gates or Sultan of Brunei. They seem like a more subdued, average well-off type of family. Marlborough College is indeed a nice school, but many people like Kate go there, not just "grand" people.
I like Kate, always have been impressed by her understated, casual look. She dresses in a non-fussy way and she is pretty enough, not a fabulous beauty or anything, but attractive and cute. She seems like a girl I could easily relate to and be friends with. I am glad for William. He has always tended to make good, sensible choices and the fact that he has a steady girlfriend of so many years (two? three? now) shows he is a lot like his father in not being a playboy type. It also shows that he prefers substance in a woman and doesn't have a weakness for gorgeous-but-brainless-big-busty models.

CTStyle, I am well aware of different income brackets. I was under the impression she came from money which would refute claims that she quite suburban middleclass (american not english). In this thread, there have been several different posts saying her parents did this, or owned that. I was just trying to get to the bottom of it.

I think part of the problem on this thread is that there are different definations of middle class. ie. english v. american which makes it difficult to understand what one means.

Oh ok. I was not trying to be insulting. Sometimes I give a bit of over-explanation because I don't know exactly what one knows or takes for granted, so I over-compensate in my ideas. I didn't mean to imply you were lacking in understanding the income brackets. I just meant to give my impression of how the Middletons' live. Their house is really very ordinary looking. It looks very nice, very comfortable, very rich, but is definitely not the sort of palace you see a family like the Spencers living in. It is no Althorp, or something, if you know what I mean.

she looks classic in her style, and i think she matches the English Royaly
:innocent:

Definitely. She has the non-fussy Windsor style mastered. She will fit in very nicely with William's aunts Sophie and Anne, and also his cousin Zara! Especially Zara, truly, they dress the same. Those two could easily be best buds.

Well why not? What is not to love? She seems like a nice girl, perfectly lovable as any other.
