Christian Dior F/W 2006.07 Paris

Apart from the shoes and some of th bags I really didn´t see anything at all that I liked..

I was so uncomfortable while she walked back on the wrong side. And she was marked then.

ummm

Disgusting, i really mean that. A complete waste of LVMH's budget. I love Galliano but its time for him to wake the hell up.

:doh::doh::doh:...im squirming:sick:...this is a laugh..:lol:..
and johnnyboy...my has he put on some weight!
I dont really like karl, but he does a killer job compared to this guy.

sorry ppl but i cant stand galliano.. why dont they bring Hedi in, not that i am a major hedi fan but seriously.. ..hed probably do way better a better job and make more money for dior... i think his aesthetic for women will be a lot more elegant.

I loved the HC...but this is a little...meh...I like the dresses and fur jackets but some pieces are indeed too Donatella for me...and the styling is kinda bad...I prefer the ghost makeup and platinum wigs over this flat rattiness...oh well...maybe Galliano will be a better collection

The look is quite frankly Stephen Sprouse meets Steven Meisel (in drag).
I've exhausted my admiration for John quite a while ago. He is NOT the same as he once was, or the med's aren't working anymore.
His pompous Napoleonic march down the runway each season sends shivers down my spine. Perhaps Robert Altman is actually documenting all of this.
Truly tiresome.

the runway isntalation is pretty amazing:

I get the feeling that fashion shows are on a much bigger scale in real life than I think they are!

As for the clothes...I like it a lot, actually. Very guns and roses, that seems to be Galliano's thing at the moment.

I've been reading "Christian Dior and I" by Christian Dior. He wrote it about his experiences as a designer. You get insight into everything from how he begins and ends each collection, the ecology of his house, even why he started it. It gives a great perspective on him not as a histroical fashion figure but as his contemporary.

With that background looking at Galliano's work, especially the recent couture collection, I can only say that the house is dead. If Dior knew this is what would have become of his name he probably would have avoided fashion altogether (his other love was architecture, unsprisingly). It's a really a shame.

I think now more than ever Dior needs a new designer.

alright. the buckles, i like - sure, he's reinventing the wheel here, but whatever, i like. some of the furs, the trimmings and the brouhaha, i like. the general look of the models is NOT OKAY - they look like the (unfortunate) lovechildren of miss eurotrah and master johny g himself. oh...

m. galliano, i am disapointed! i haven't seen a collection i've liked full-on since a/w haute couture 2005/6.

That's a scary thought. Shouldn't that be reserved for his own line? But I do like the clothes.

Quito Ecuador! I was born in Quito, now I live in the states. I've always wondered if they sell Dior in Quito?

Mutterlein, that seems to be the constant debate about the current state of dior. some argue that galliano was a saviour to a dusty fashion house, my argument is that respect might not be all that bad...

arguably, dior could be in the same ranks as balenciaga is now, it's got the archives, the rich aesthetic..maybe it would be less experimental that ghesquiere's work, still every season i can'e help but overthink the irrelevancy of what this guy does.

...and that it's a giant mockery..

...and what ends up in the stores counts dammit! the fit and the wearability is a deciding factor you know...the latest thing i've seen in the store? a white leather trench with flower cutouts:ermm:....
