It looks like another showstopper. I can't say i'm in love with every outfit, but those who refer back to the garments' wearability are completely missing the point of couture today. It is the oppurtunity for some select designers to show their vision in as little detched form from their imagination as possible. Galliano especially in recent years has shown greater coherence between haute couture and pret-a-porter and shown a level of relevance that is not accidental (like making references between french revolution and Iraq, muslim protests etc etc as seen in teh soundtrack with the imams wailing all over the place -no disresepct). I will wait as ever to see what teh boutiques show, but I think Galliano has realised pink p*rno diordiordior overkill no longer sits as comfortably with his surreal and highly creative creations at the top end of couture. I don't want to be too hasty, but I think we are coming out of the epoque where a mention of couture isn't coupled with a suggestion of its imminent demise. In itself, it is not an exercise in profitability or practicality, but peopel are starting to realise that brands are effective as a whole, and the millions in sales of sunglasses and other Diorana are created by the PR of high-profile couture and r-t-w shows and their subsequent magazine (and increasingly internet) copy. I hope a look towards the creative and artistic acheivements and foibles in couture will make up the journalistic fashion coverage, rather than the ongoing life-expectancy of couture, which frankly I am bored of. I'm sorry to have such a rant, but I just want to see some amazing fashion, and hear others' opinion of the clothes, the vision...all that. I also can't wait to see the video, as the collection at this level is presented as a whole package and a vision, and the big budgets and relaxed reins make for a more expressed vision. I have to remind myself though, it's not about the models, the set... it's about the fashion, remember?
So much more I want to say... musn't...bore...people
