Designer & Fashion Insiders Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

First, Mr Jean Raymond and then me Villaseñor…
There’s clearly something there with the idea of a lifestyle of a designer than the reality of the job.
It’s a hustle a guess, a means to an end.

It’s definitely because of this that they fired him.
I don’t know how this will work in terms of credibility in the fashion circles. He seems to be more Hollywood anyway and they will forgive him but the industry…

the alleged funds misappropriation happened at Rhude, not Bally (which is where he got fired from) but I would not be surprised if, er, 'lifestyle expectations' were involved in his exit from the latter in some capacity - though the obvious answer to 'why' in that case seems to be largely the same as in LDSS leaving Ann D - underwhelming designs not really bringing what the brand wanted.

anyway here's more detail on the Rhude lawsuit, from Sneaker Legal on instagram

Rhuigi Villaseñor, the designer behind the luxury Los Angeles-based streetwear label Rhude, is facing accusations of stealing company funds to support his own “lavish lifestyle” in a federal lawsuit, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Filed by George Robertson, an owner of a 20% stake in the Rhude brand, the lawsuit alleges that Villaseñor “has been pilfering the Rhude Companies’ coffers” to front his expensive bills, including those for “private jet travel, Italian vacations, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and a collection of $100,000 watches,” per the outlet.

Robertson, who is looking for compensation and the removal of Villaseñor’s executive power at Rhude Companies, also alleges in the suit that the designer raked in yearly revenues of more than $30 million USD. But while the brand’s sales tallied eight figures, Robertson, as a co-owner, claims he has received annual distributions as low as $41,000 USD from Villaseñor. Further, Robertson alleges that Villaseñor would conceal sales by routinely selling Rhude’s goods to VIP clients in private sales and keeping the profits for himself. “He has taken advantage of his power and control over the Rhude Companies’ products, designs, bank accounts and financial records to enrich himself to Robertson’s detriment,” the lawsuit states.

Robertson claimed his stake in the company with a $50,000 USD investment in 2016, but he reportedly fell out with the designer just three years later. In the suit, he alleges that the designer “grew jealous” after he came up with several top-selling product ideas. Villaseñor offered to pay his co-owner $5 million USD for his stake in the company in 2021. The full parameters of the suit can be seen in an Instagram post from Sneaker Legal, a law firm specializing in sneakers and streetwear, below.

Villaseñor did not respond to Hypebeast’s requests for comment.

Elsewhere, Louis Vuitton partnered with Sotheby’s to host an auction for exclusive Artycapucines bags.

Yes I know. He was fired because Bally saw him as a liability for the brand.
Being attached to this kind of scandal can jeopardize the reputation of a company like Bally even more when the lifestyle of the said designer is so linked to his personality/personal branding.

It's a bit 'cart before the horse' - maybe you can pull this if you're 70s YSL or 90s Galliano, but these dudes are nowhere near the skill or impact levels of even 80s Galliano or Dior-era YSL.

Kate Middleton’s taste in jewellery is a ‘disappointment’, says former Vogue editor Suzy Menkes

‘She gives the impression that she only puts it on when she absolutely has to,’ says Menkes

The Princess of Wales has been labelled a “disappointment’ with regards to her approach to jewellery.

Former Vogue editor and fashion critic Suzy Menkes made the remarks during an interview on the newest episode of her podcast Creative Conversations.

Speaking to British Vogue’s jewellery editor Carol Woolton, the two discussed and analysed some of Kate Middleton’s recent style choices, explaining to listeners that as a senior member of the royal family, she would surely have access to some of the finest jewels in the country.

“The Princess of Wales is a bit of a disappointment about jewellery,” said Menkes. “She gives the impression that she only puts it on when she absolutely has to.”

The 79-year-old critic continued: “I imagine her looking beautiful in one of those gowns behind the scenes and then pulling a face as if to say, ‘Do I have to wear this?’

“She doesn’t give any sense of adoring jewellery and being pleased to put it on.”

Menkes went on to suggest that Queen Camilla seems far more interested in jewellery, stating: “[Kate] doesn’t seem to have Camilla’s joy at wearing jewellery.”

She went on: “We now have a new Queen, so presumably she has a first opportunity to look at the jewels.

“We can imagine that the next in line to the throne’s wife would be something that was very special, so will we see Catherine wearing jewellery that is more dramatic, that is more personal to her? I don’t know. I can’t help feeling with things of beauty, you either love it or you don’t.”

Later in the podcast, Menkes went on to discuss some of the controversy that the royal family’s jewellery collection has garnered over the years.

“It’s one of these strange secrets,” she said. “It’s not discussed, and I can see why because some of the pieces are dubious. They came from India.

“I won’t say they were stolen but they were perhaps given and taken by the British Royal Family. They weren’t stealing it but they were taking over a country at that time, and taking jewels they thought were an attractive thing to take back to England with them.”

Uhm, maybe she doesn't care for jewellery?
Suzy Menkes is no different to the trashy tabloids. If the Princess of Wales regularly wears jewellery, and especially family heirlooms which everyone from every corner of the world is trying to lay claim to, she'd be rightly criticised and Suzy wouldn't dare come to her defence.

Menkes is just too old-school. "but Camilla seems more interested".. yeah, and? what about Charles, is he interested too? why not Camilla's jewels vs. Charles' watches.. why are these people SO OBSESSED with comparing women in the royal family to each other?

But I'm no better so I'm just going to say : Camilla NEEDS a lot of jewelry to look credible, it makes sense she's developed "joy" at the sight of jewels. Kate just walks into any event with the same Zara dress she wore in 2013, 2015 and 2018 and her demeanor and energy is 100% royalty and makes people stutter lol. I think she's learned the hard way (from the Waity Katie days) how nasty the press can be and how everything is scrutinized so she's learned to play the game and keep everything that is not necessary or that has gotten people riled up in the past down to a minimum. Just the way the article ends "oh yeah but royal jewelry comes from dubious sources"... so you want people to be into jewelry but if they are, let's not forget they're wearing controversial items and shame on them. No wonder Kate is not into that can of worms...

Menkes is giving this a deeper analysis than it really needs. It's perfectly fine if Kate doesn't want to wear jewellery and there's nothing sinister behind that choice.

Modern fashion media is so poisonous...
