Designer & Fashion Insiders Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

Definitely agree. Same goes for Galliano. He's been welcomed back into the fashion world after his incident. I wish it were different with Stefano though because he is such a child on social media and that DG has now become a second-tier brand that is always caught up in some kind of controversy whether it be Stefano or their tax fraud. I'm slightly surprised many models like Karlie Kloss still agree to work for the brand considering her positions on womens empowerment and progressive values etc.

She seems to have quite low standards in terms of whom she associates with :ninja:

Well she probably knows them personally and has a strong relationship with them, it's not that easy for most people to cut off friends. I don't think she's done anything involving Galliano since his incident, has she? She also seems to be very non-confrontational and rarely criticizes anyone (she's very professional I guess)

This Stefano calling selena ugly thing seems to be gaining traction though.

I don't think that we should boycott a company because the founder is making childish comments on IG. Maybe it matters to millenials but for me, it's the work that counts. We sometimes believe that it's either black or white but no. Dolce & Gabbana are gay men who have made unpopular comments in the gay community.

.

Quite the contrary, i’m far from a millenial and now more than ever i care where I spend my money. What type of company or person, i’m sponsoring. That’s something that when i was younger did not even cross my mind and now to me it’s fundamental.
And as someone that lived in several European countries i can see things changing, the cultural indifference of certain countries to certain subjects is eroding. More and more people even in those countries are being accountable for their actions and people are becoming aware that you can make a difference by simply turning your back to certain corporations.

Everyone is so sensitive nowadays. He just called her ugly. Yes it was childish but thats all. He says what he thinks. This is not a crime.

He responded!

“I have nothing against Selena Gomez. I don’t even know her. I don’t pay much attention to what happened on social media. But after my comment, I was informed, I got 120,000 followers because of it. I didn’t do it on purpose,”

Speaking to a group of Italian journalists, Gabbana reflected on his power in the media.

“To say that someone looks ugly in a dress and then see it manipulated… because Americans are very talented in manipulation… I only commented on a post from another account, and then everyone saw it. It was a photo of her in one of our dresses, and I didn’t like how she looked, so I said it,” Gabbana said.

And the press and everyone else is giving him what he wants. This sad excuse of a human acts like a child because, much like one, he craves attention. Just forget his sorrowful existence, everyone. Please. His brand is dead and so should be his social media attention.

I feel exactly the same way.

Now he's blaming Americans  I don't know how or where, but I know this is coming back to him.

Dolce e Gabbana used to be the brand that represented the Italian Luxury Fashion in 2000's. They had Gisele, Natasha, Caroline, Raquel, Gemma, Carmen... Such a sad story.

I remember that iconic FW 2007... the best models in the world reunited in one runway wearing those amazing dresses. The opening, the finale...

Now they don't look the same as before. Their creativity disappeared. What happened?

^ I'm not sure whether people's brains go to sh!t because of Twitter, or whether Twitter attracts those whose brains are already in that condition ... someone should do a study.

Totally agree. I always think to myself the two BIGGEST shows since I became interested in fashion 15 years ago that in my mind are iconic and had every big model in it are the Dolce and Gabbana FW 2007 and the Dior HC 60th anniversary at Versaille.

Both those houses have now become so low-tier in terms of big production shows with amazing styling and casting.

I think if Stefano (and Dominico) went back to doing their sexy and luxurious collections ie 2007 then people would forgive them for this past decade of crap they've put out AND for Stefano's random rants. I think one of the reasons people are really hating on Stefano for his attitude also has to do with people's distain for the brand's current direction too. That's why people aren't as forgiving as with Galliano and Lagerfeld for their previous incidents.

I mean, it's such a desperate brand that rehashes the same "Sicilian-wannabe" crap that only millennial instafamous kids are buying. And none of these insta-stylists/fashion bloggers have any taste or eye for style...they just wear what they get given. And now that Stefano has become so involved in the insta-lifestyle he's kind of become this bratty kid now. No surprises there now...

They have always been like that but the truth is that before, when they were together, people didn't care about their views on society. Now, people cares about whatever anybody wants to say.

About their creativity, i just think that they chased relevancy and it killed them. Personally, i was fine with their aesthetic from 2010 to 2014. I know it was a controversial era because we expected from them to give us fashion moments like before the crisis but truth to be told, they had to do it because they discontinued D&G and being repetitive was a way to really push forward the mainline aesthetic.

A decade ago, they were the first to embrace bloggers and now i think they are chasing whatever might comes. When the world will be tired of IG stars, they will refocus but they are dictated by the market when, as designers, and major ones, they are supposed to lead.

Their fashion is IG friendly because they are hiring any IG celebrity. They are copying Gucci and Balenciaga now because those are the hottest brands of IG. Stefano clearly loves the attention and like any IG celebrity, he makes sure to feed that love for attention.

Everytime we hear about a Dolce & Gabbana controversy, we have a show coming ahead. That's why i hate that we are feeding this.

Of course people are going to pay attention to the show of one of the designers who said "No" on a Kate Moss pic and "She looks ugly" on a Selena Gomez pic. To add more to the attention, he made Monica Belucci walk his show and guess what? Naomi Campbell AKA Kate Moss best friend is also there...

Listen, for him and his company, there's no bad publicity because as i said the people who are calling for a boycott are not even customers in the first place. They have their Haute Couture clientele, their IG obsessed clientele and their more classic one.

The brand is dead for people on the internet but it is more than alive in Real Life.

I agree the people being childish are the ones getting offended, Selena's been looking awful as of late and he simply said it. He's a man child but puh-lease teeny boppers are not untouchable as US media would like us to believe.

Even after hearing about D+G in the early 90's, I still have no clue which one is which. I doubt that'll change anytime soon.

The thing is it seemed like he was saying that she herself is ugly (as in she has an ugly face or body), it didn't come across to most people as her outfits and styling being ugly. That's what angered people I guess

He is now posting throw up and poop emojis under random posts about Selena, he is officially insane.

It's a good point ... where's the line these days between 'massive jerk' and 'clearly needs treatment, where's the straight jacket'? Seems safe to say it's been blurred ... and social media's not helping  The best thing I can say about Stefano right now is at least he'll never be president. Of this country.

Dolce & Gabbana's Stefano Gabbana is persona non grata with Welch and Bolden.

"I reacted poorly to it," [Karla] Welch said when asked if the designer's dig at Selena Gomez will have an effect on the house's red-carpet future. "I had Dolce on the rack for a fitting and said, 'No, those can go away.' That's just mean." Added [Jason] Bolden: "Not since the beginning of time have you seen Dolce on my rack. Those silhouettes are amazing and they get everyone. But my girls are like, what? It's a done deal."

^^
Great! Stylists taking their responsabilities but seriously, i don't think he cares and as i said earlier, i just wish we act like he doesn't exist because reacting over and over again on his childish behavior is positive in his mind.
