Givenchy HC S/S 08 Paris

yeah.. i know it's similar to his earlier work, but i still adore it!

I LOVE this!!!!
Yes, some of the pieces are quite similar, but that doesnt take from how beautiful the clothing is!! I am so glad there is this HC collection - the only one i truly love so far!!
Many of the pieces are just stunning, and I love the quirkiness of the bow on the back of the feathered dress!

Of course things will be similar to his past work,i mean the same person designed them, lol!

i think using similar colors and embellishments sort of solidify the image the brand is trying to design for. at least that's how i think of it... when you think of a certain designer, you think of a certain silhouette/color and i think that might be the point. but evolving is also important..

Wow! This is marvellous. Ive never seen such beauty from a couture collection. Its something ud see in a fantasy book. The white coat i sooo beautiful. I love the white flowing dresses. ALL the colours are excellently used.

This is gorgeous. The white coat is exquisite. Love love love this.

the white coat is soo fantastic, i would really love to have this in my closet...

I'm sorry, but there is a big difference between having continuity in your work and repeating yourself with strikingly similar garments season after season.

Where as he was evolving in the past two years, developing signature ideas and such, this is just a rehash. Some of the things aren't even different. That red dress is just a shorter version of the grey gown from 07, that's hardly what I'd call being consistent, that's downright lazy from a HC standpoint.

Considering how hard people have been on Galliano's couture, especially this season, it seems only fair to call out Tisci for falling into the same trap of repeating himself.

Yes, there are some pieces that are definitely similar to previous collections, but I think that's part of Tisci's signature style. Although I think fashion people weirdly expect it, one can not and should not change completely from collection to collection.

I like what I've seen so far. If I had that white coat, I would have a difficult time not wearing it every day. Oh, how I just love couture week.:heart:

I'd love to see Carine rocking the white coat :shifty: :flower:

:woot: Love it! It's fabulous! ^_^
And the shoes are amazing!!!

I am not thrilled?

I mean, it all looks outstandingly wellmade and very dreamy...not to mention beautiful, but it's nothing we haven't seen before...the silhouettes aren't new, the huge frocks look familiar and the pallet is indeed the same as ever. I like this collection, but I don't love it. Where are the dramatic floorlength dresses?

couldn't agree with you more. I love Tisci but this is entirely too reminiscent of his previous work. I'm... almost disappointed.

y'all's seem to love it, but to me, those embellishments look like party decorational materials gone wrong. besides, Tisci did that "ball under sheer fabric" already. it was a novelty back then, it's nothing worth writing home about now.

i generally tend to enjoy the cleaner, simpler pieces more. they leave more space to "breathe".

Why is he recycling ideas so early in his career? I've seen a lot of these before.

Indeed a whole lot of recycling :( It is reminiscent of Dior HC as well...a lot of beautiful pieces with a great concept, but quite redundant in terms of execution. The good thing is we'll likely see very different designs from both Tisci and Galliano come next Haute Couture...
