Jovovich-Hawk for Target

^ Finally, a conformation! Thanks for the heads-up. Here's a screenshot of that blurb:

Please let this be better than Temperley and Erin Fetherston. I was really let down by those two.

My hope is that this collection sticks with the vintage, feminine look of its regular line and not focus on the hypermini dresses since Target still thinks 13-year-olds are buying the GO International line.

I haven't bought anything from the collections, yet everytime I remain excited and hopeful when a new designer is announced.

I always look at the item and imagine if the tag said, Mossimo, would I still want it? The cuts always seem off, the shoulders either don't hit right or the buttons gap on the shirts. The fabric content is another thing that bothers me. For how cheap their labor is, I don't understand why there aren't more cotton/silk pieces. If F21 can do it, so can they.

If an item has a great pattern or cut, I'm willing to forego fabric content, as evidenced by my vintage clothing collection of poly or poly blend items. I don't seem to be coming across this with these collections. Not only are they lacking in quality, but there seems to be a lack of design. The same Victiorian style ruffled blouse has appeared in almost every collection.

Anyways, I don't know what all my bitching is for, but I guess I'm stuck between not being able spend $$$$$ for a designer piece, but also wanting more than a $ Target item with a designer's tag stuck on it:alien:

I do see a large number of youngsters frequenting the GO International section, myself included.

^ i think it varies between designer... the Behnaz Sarafpour line had lady-like items, whereas Proenza Schuler had fun/flirty cute items. the Fetherston collection was definitely the more youthful of all of the collections, but i could see mixing a piece or two with something more grown-up. i can't see Jovovich-Hawk putting out something that they themselves wouldn't wear. Milla wears JH all the time.

the first few images have leaked! the february issue of harpers bazaar with jennifer lopez on the cover has a tiny of pic of a pair of shorts and a blouse.

unfortunately, i hate both of them....

Yay thanks! Hopefully someone will be able to scan it otherwise I will check out this mag tommorow.

I really want to see some photos. :woot: I know they'll all be leaked soon if Harper's has some photos already.

really??!! i get bazaar... haven't seen my feb issue yet... i must see this!

I don't really understand why people seem to be so disappointed with quality or design...it is DISPOSABLE fashion, afterall,so one should never expect great quality. it's not lanvin or branquinho, its mass manufactured target clothes with merely a designer aesthetic.

that's a really great point scott..
i think because of the designer name people sometimes expect designer quality..
but it is important to remember, like you said, that these are designers designing disposable fashion at disposable fashion prices..

it's silly to think that you can get designer goods, for designer quality at disposable fashion prices just because the items are being sold at target...

i'm eager to see pictures of what these ladies have in store..

My dissapointment with the last two lines didn't have to do with the quality so much as the style of the clothes. I wished there was something I would actually want to wear like in previous lines.

Who said they thought they could get the same designer quality at Target?

i wasn't referring to anyone in particular..
just making the point that we shouldn't expect the high designer quality..

a lot of ppl have cited low quality as a reason that they don't like certain go for target lines and i'm just saying it's important to remember that target pieces will be target quality no matter who designs them..

it's easy to get caught up and forget..

Yeah... I have to agree with madhuri. The quality didnt bother me really... it was the style.

Oh, because I was confused, I read back over responses and didn't see anyone say they were expecting high designer quality at Target.

The quality issues people were talking about were more about the fit & buttons popping off hours after wearing.

And Scott, part of the problem people are having with the Target lines is the lack of designer aesthetic. There doesn't seem to be much setting their lines apart from the everyday Target lines.

^well,i don't know if i agree with that. i thought libertine adapted their style to this kind of platform and they did a range that i thought was really rather original and refreshing.....at least within this market. and erin's coats this go-round,which i thought was her stronger pieces....i haven't seen anything close to those particular pieces even in high street havens.

you must remember too,it's not always the fault of a designer's lack of imagination, they do have to work around limitations as they are doing ranges for mass market and in that it does have to sell.

Scott;3964010 you must remember too said:
I'm think this is pointless because we are apparently starting at two different levels of what we are posting about. I'm beyond the point of how true the designers want to stay to their aesthetic & what they are willing to sacrifice for money/mass market appeal. I'm wanting to know why they aren't working harder at the aesthetic portion when other lines are being able to capture detail with equal cost constraints & market appeal.

I think it is more the tone I'm giving your responses that is bothering me. The first thought that comes into my head when I read your posts is thank you Captain Obvious. I'm sure you are not meaning to come off as condescending, so I'll just leave it as you are just in the mood to teach & looking for a student. I know it is hard, the TFS group is awesome at being so educated in the creative & business side of fashion. ;)
