Lanvin for H&M (Update....Second Collection?)

I will go with friends in a group to corner off the racks.
This will be the first time I have decided to go shop for the H&M designer collaboration !!!

god i hate they'll reveal what items will come from Menswear. i'm totally dying here. someone definitely HAS TO break that embargo and leak some pics online. there's gotta be previews FFS.

I feel like this is going to be a very expensive experience for me...

I'd love to get few pieces out of that collection but i live in Croatia, and we still dont have H&M here :((
But i m going to the UK soon and will get some stuff deffo, i cant wait :D

I'm disappointed by him saying that. People are not going to buy the collection because it's H&M going luxury (H&M could do that without the help of another designer). Of course consumers are going to buy it because it bears the brand name Lanvin and it's made more accessible to them, just look at the comments in this thread.

In some sense you are right. It is the Lanvin name which makes us pay attention. But, I do not agree that "H&M could do that without the help of another designer". The H&M design team is not comprised of hundreds of Lacroixs and McQueens, otherwise they would be (not saying that a few of them will not be).

H&M provides the masses with watered down versions of coveted designer ideas. What we will get with Lanvin for H&M is, hopefully, pure ideas straight from the source.

Luxury brands are expensive for a reason: it's part of their positioning as they have to be affordable only to a small group of people. Call it overpriced if you want but it's part of the game.

Without a doubt, many designer items are massively overpriced. You pay for the brand name, the marketing (Naomi Campell shot by Meisel), the elaborate fashion shows (iceberg?!?), whatever else. But, more often than not, their production costs are much higher. This is because they limit production levels. Just think of the insane waiting lists for a Hermes bag--more demand than supply. This is most definitely a game, and a very hard one to play at that. Labour, resources, interest, sales, etc. How do you continue to grow your luxury business without becoming commercial?

Let's just say it's not just a price thing.

My point is, H&M is NOT going luxury. From my point of view, it's the other way around despite what Elbaz wants us to believe: a luxury brand branches out into mass market.

And I agree with you that luxury brands don't set high prices just for the sake of being high-priced. I was answering another post and didn't need to elaborate this.

The Lavin for H&M site is now also live, with another video as well as the one posted above.

http://www.hm.com/gb/#/designer/

There will be a total of six videos telling us more about the collection, and they are unlocked and able to be played at separate dates, culminating in a show on November 2nd.

IMO even with these desginer collections, it's not H&M going Luxery, since the quality isn't that good.

I can't believe it's 54 days left before we get to see anything!

Ahhh I can't wait for a preview!

Knowing my luck, it won't be available at the H&Ms near me...and if it is, only at one store and in very limited quantities.

the announcement coincides with lanvin's new manhattan store. hopefully that means that lanvin wants to get more name recognition in the US. but H&M may not allow the collection in more than a handful of US stores. its a pity.

i just watched the new video...tulle and printed dresses for women..sounds good so far. i'm not keen on the t shirts.
