Marni for H&M

i like how the men stuff is being marginalized with no tiny images even though it is in the same room :/

that one chunky bracelet with the big rectangles and the smaller green rectangles looks very cheap.

Man, I can't believe I'm actually excited about this, an H&M collection. The prints are so lovely. The men's collection looks promising from the tiny photo.

How is that on there already? I put my bid in...I want some mens sneaks! And does anyone know when US e-commerce launches this yr.? Will it be in time for this collection?

H&M employees get access to the showroom. I wonder if the collection is already there...

the knit tie does nothing for me

which magazine is the ad from? does that mean the commercial will launch soon?

I LOVE H&M collaborations, even though, of course, the quality of these garments cannot be as high as designers' original collections, it is still awesome to be able get my hands on a piece of Lanvin, Versace, Marni..
Marni collab is gonna be incredible, their prints are irresistible. I just hope I will be able to get something before it sells out again!

the silver shoes are cool, but the mens sandals? i just don't think they are attractive. via dailymail

I'll be putting my boxing gloves on and fight my way through the pair of silver sandals that's meant to be mine! :boxer:

I think I'm in the minority here, but something about the mass hysteria created by these Designer/Retail collaborations really sickens the brand for me, so I am not excited to see Marni (a brand I adore) be the next one to take part. Especially since I think it takes the right girl to pull off Marni clothes. It does seem to be wonderfully done though.

100% agree.

I would rather H&M had a 'diffusion' line that changed designers every season. So Donatella would do one season, Marni would do the next ect. But it would be H&M CLOTHES with a famous design team. Slapping a brand on the label next to H&M does not make me lust after the clothes any more than usual - because I know the quality/manufacturing will be the same.

I like H&M clothes, I also like the designers that collaborate. But if I wanted to BUY the designer, I would save up and GO TO the designer.

It serves a fun purpose - eg Versace digging up old prints and reinventing them, but wouldnt it be better if they just did it on their own rather than putting it through H&M? If I saw anyone in 'Versace x H&M' in 6 months, id cringe.

But maybe im being really boring.

^you're not boring, you're entitled to your own opinion...

I'm excited about it as this is really been the only collection that H&M has done with a designer that's intrigued me...hopefully it will be coming to NorthPark in Dallas...BTW, have they released which stores will be carrying the line?

I already made plans to stay with a friend that works at NorthPark and she volunteered to drop me off on her way to work :blush::p:D

I'm confused with your idea. What you describe sound like what H&M does with the designer collaboration already.

Here's the thing, there is clearly a market for making designer brands being accessible to the mass. Not every one can afford to have the real deal and a collaboration piece is enough for some regardless whether or not the quality is there.

Why don't designer just do it on their own? Well for many reasons but it comes down to optimizing business and for Versace this was the best way to achieve things like brand recognition and cash flow.

My main problem with this is people's opinions towards the quality of the garments in these collections. Versace didn't have the best quality it has to be said but seriously, if you bought anything from the Stella McCartney/Lanvin/CDG/Viktor & Rolf lines you were not getting pieces at the same quality as regular H&M. Some of the Lanvin pieces in particular were amazingly well made, the construction was amazing and being someone who actually studied production I can say that was the case quite firmly.

Cavali and Lanvin had probably the best production on pieces, some of the dresses were immaculate and at the time I would very seriously have challenged someone to find flaws in some of them when they were compared to mainline.
