I too used to share this erroneous thinking, but then I realised that we are blaming the wrong party here. Kendall and Gigi cannot demand and get VP covers, they're enabled by Emmanuelle Alt or David Sims, or whoever. Now whether it all boils down to bribery (as DutchHomme will explain at length to anyone who will listen), their family ties, or sm clout, is really almost irrelevant. Fact of the matter is, the root of the problem is the fashion system who back them, not the actual girls. But all these comments actually target them personally, which I find odd. Is it because it's easier and less consequential to attack Kendall than Condè Nast? Of course they're rather lousy modelling. Why not talk about that instead?

@Modellove: Actually, you're right. I should think that as a feminist you are entitled to dislike other women. But it's a completely different ballgame when your comments verge to the point of inciting hate, or publicly tearing them down. This is not conducive to the 'feminist' cause at all. I say this of course from my lofty male ignorance, so excuse me if I'm getting the wrong end of the stick here.

I should also add that I deplore nepotism as much as you do, but my frustration is directed at Katie Grand, Karl or Chloe for instance, not Kendall or Theo Wenner.

That is. I didn't see the trashing or anything (I'm not a fan nor do I follow her) but that is being a twat, yeah.

Again you can voice your opinion, be anti-nepotism and yet don't make it about the girls. I couldn't care less if they had surgery, drugs, diets, whatever, that's not the problem about them. Hell, there's plenty of non-nepotist models with plastic surgery, I don't even know why this is an issue.

But I will always raise my voice against nepotism, against the way these girls are told to lie about their lifestyle (why say that you go through 20 castings a day when you don't?), against the privilege reproduction that the industry seems to be very found of nowadays, the fact that they are being paid way more than their fellow colleagues for the same campaign, etc etc etc.

But these matters have nothing to do the girls themselves, actually. The Men's D&G show was proof that even if it wasn't for the Hadids, it would be for the Stallones, Dylans and Laws of this world. They have a new batch of nepotists ready to release upon us.

Exactly. And Gigi saying it is not her fault that she looks different to other girls and that she must have become famous because 'the industry was ready for a change' and to see bodies like hers. Truly awful comment while other models constantly struggle or would be tossed aside. Models at the top of their game have lost jobs due to measurement issues. They can't get away with looking like her because 'the industry is ready for a change.' She got away with it because she is a rich daughter of a reality star. Period.

I've understood your point, but c'mon..don't be naive.
It's a job based on image, body structure, perfectionism, personality, competition and recently even on "insta" popularity..it's pretty normal to check comments about yourself on a fb page or here a tfs if you're a young model.
You're right we all have different opinions, but you have to build a strong personality to avoid all the bad vibes when you're not questioned on your brain, ideas etc, but on your pictures, posture, bookings ...it's an amazign job, but it can feel you fragile sometimes.

I think it might be good that they are reading their threads. People here have passion about fashion and the girls can read something that could actually helped them with their job, they are not some 13-year old kid that would just bash them on instagram or tell them they are just pretty. But this only if they can actually handle criticism....
