Model Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

^ it's not really that common for governments to order their populations by ethnicity... it's had more negative effects than positive ones whenever it was implemented in certain regions (e.g. Latin America in early-mid 20th century). Whenever this has come up in the US, I notice people seem outraged but.. different cultures/historical issues= different attempts for a solution.

I'm happy to hear France doesn't have that.. I thought it did. Of course they're struggling with the equation that integration is for every country in the world but they'll get there... we'll all get there [..just maybe not in our lifetime ].

I'm curious as to what the demographics of the French population look like. I'm much more familiar with the US, where African-Americans make up about 12% of the population, I believe. We have a significant Hispanic population ... off the top of my head, it would seem they are the least represented on the runway. (Now I'm far less than model height, and many Hispanic men are shorter than I am, but every population has its tall people.)

I think a significant point here is the outright discrimination. In this country, removing people from consideration for a job based on their ethnicity is illegal. This type of flagrant discrimination was never associated with Lanvin in the past, to my knowledge.

France is so diverse, it is unbelievable. I moved to Paris when I was 22 after growing up in South Australia. I had not seen many people of African descent in real life, had never met a Muslim or someone from the Middle East at all and the only people I had met with dark skin were Aboriginals. I lived in the 18th in Paris and it was such an eye opening experience. I have never seen so many cultures in my life. France has so many different people from all over the world so it is crazy to see the shows not representing that.

I actually don't think latinas are properly represented in fashion, and it's baffling. (Hate how the word 'hispanic' sounds, it's not something commonly used in the UK, I suppose). I do wonder why bookers don't go to South America (just not Brazil, I'm fed up with Brazilian models) or even Southern parts of Africa more often. Is it a matter of logistics? Because when you look beyond the pageant type of beauty which is oddly enough still rife in South America, many girls in these regions could bring something new to the hf arena. Peru for instance stand out immediately with such a diverse beauty. They'd have perfect faces for beauty campaigns.

Could put an end to this Dutch domination, which imo is lasting TOO LONG now. Sorry, Anlabe! But I do understand that model castings must in a way must align with who designers want for their presentation. So if Demna or Miuccia only wants some Vitamin D deficient prepubescent EE girl to wear their clothes, how can agencies innovate by bringing in something new?

Oh, and btw, @ the talk of Latinos! Hilarious, but so so true!

^ as a student in South America, I hung out with people from pretty much every country in Latin America... none of them were particularly small, some a little shorter than me (5'9) and guys usually about my height. In many countries such as Peru, Mexico, Ecuador and Colombia, it's sadly often related to socioeconomic background. Same for skin tone. Immigrants in the US for obvious reasons (pushed to the social periphery to the point you're forced to emigrate) are mostly indigenous.

(I always found the word hispanic used in the US funny too..)

I wouldn't say latinas are misrepresented. Are a minority, like Africans, but to forget the importance of the Colombian and (even more) Argentinian models is quite unfair to them. Ask Mica. :p And Brazilians. Like it or not, "Portuguese colonized countries" are also considered Latins. The thing is most of the Brazilian models are from German or central European ancestry not Portuguese. You find more native and/or Portuguese (or Spanish or Italian) ancestry Brazilian models among men.

That's interesting about demographic information being verboten in France. We do a census every 10 years. By law you must complete it & it asks about race/ethnicity, but I think there's an option to choose if you don't want to say. You can classify yourself however you identify. So here, it's definitely not considered a secret, but what's happening now is the first hint of governmental discrimination in my lifetime. And as you might imagine, it's encouraging all sorts to crawl out of the woodwork and start voicing their hate. I'm currently in the process of making a significant change in how I socialize to ensure I'm not spending time with people who think this kind of thing is appropriate.

As for utopia, I would like to get to a place where your ancestry is a matter of interest, culture, a talking point, but never a cause for discrimination or defensiveness. A girl can dream.

^it looks like jealousy but wouldn't she be jealous of almost every model then? She never was that much in demand :P

I don't understand models who like or comment on this type on post , are you not clever enough to know that your followers will automatically see it .. ?

^^^ Same thing, once I saw McKenna Hellam liking a confession that says Molly Bair is average and doesn't deserve her success.

What 25 year old woman wants to have a kid with an 18 year old boy!?:shock::shock:

lucky blue smith is very devout mormon. i am not surprised that he is going to be a father so soon. I'm sure he'll sign the baby to NEXT as soon as possible.

Do mormons believe in sex before marriage? I thought they didn't condone that but I could be very wrong.

Yes , if you mean no sex before marriage , I think he said that during an interview or I dont know
But apparently things has changed..

I like the "surprising news". Is he hinting at something or what ? If he weren't a celebrity, he would be considered trash but oh well
