Model Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

I don't recall any widely distributed articles written about Taylor and Sara's antics to begin with. Gigi's Buddha-gate was picked up by sites across the world, especially around the time when she was confirmed for VS. It was clearly as big of a deal that she saw the need to issue a public apology, and on Weibo. Besides, as pointed out above, it's much easier to let a fanatical group think they have a say by yielding to superficial demands while so much more sinister stuff goes on behind the curtains. Youth, so easy to corrupt!

I refuse to believe her backing out is a PR move. She may not have needed VS, but she was elated when they confirmed her. It wasn't like Kendall who actually had a conflicting partnership and was forced to back out from day 1.
And of course what you're calling 'controlling her image' is actually damage/disaster control. I just checked, and the Gigi boot was actually launched last year, so Mulletproof is right. It's a bit suspicious to only post the images now, especially since Gigi was announced as Glamour's Woman of the Year a few weeks ago. Trust me, the media have their pens filled for the next time she'll be booking Vogue China. I can already picture the headlines.....
I doubt she will cover vogue china anytime soon. It is pretty interesting from a PR perspective how this incident unfold. Unlike Kendall, Gigi has great management at IMG so they really approached this the wrong way and it came to bite them in the ***.

Bella posted the snap back in early Feb. At the time there was sizable backlash on social media and a few online articles. She did not apologize and just had Bella take down the snap. However, in August when her casting for VSFS in China was announced, that infamous snap resurfaced creating a bigger backlash and the petition. She apologized on twitter and then Weibo but never made a formal statement which probably would have helped her case.

I agree her backing out is not a PR move. Her career doesn't need VSFS but the kind of exposure she would have gotten for walking her 3rd straight VSFS would not have hurt either.

Maybe the Chinese president is an old-school elitist fashionista and hates Gigi. I'm gonna entertain that possibility just for the fun of it.

Hahaha right, you just know he is a TFS member! Although, if so, he wouldn't have denied the Russians visas ;)

Didn't Sara Sampaio say the N word? They both have millions of followers on Instagram... and they still work for VS.

To be fair being called racist because you sang a Jay Z song is reaching, I would not apologise either, and i see no reason why anyone would fire her because of it.

I absolute loathe VS and everything they represent, so the fact that they lost their headlining airhead can only warm my heart.

If I were a model, I think I would have the brain to not insult Naomi (...to her face/in a way that she would find out). Well, I hope so anyway:P

Their problem was, they thought they could control her like they control the "Wang gang": just some beautiful girls going to parties together, being insta-cool, very Lotta Volkova, misbehaving under tight control and a veil of glamour.

Slick is far from that. The girl is seriously childish and, like any child, the more you try to control her, the more she acts up.

That said I don't believe Tim Walker would stop working with her. As soon as he went down the empty fame hole, I knew he was lost to the insta-girls.

In 2016, a models agent was investigated for r*pe, sexual assault and moral harassment. Johann M. denied the accusations.
A few days ago, this article was published in a french magazine. Encouraged by the Weinstein scandal, some of the victims decided to share their story.
They were 14 or 15 when the agent spotted them in the street. In order to launch their modelling career, they would spend more and more time with him. They would end up moving in with him, cut off from their families. The young women describe the psychological violence and how controlling he was. One day, a female photographer named Cindy realized something was wrong. She contacted a lawyer who started collecting testimonies.
According to the article, the investigators interviewed about a hundred models (!), sometimes only to help them understand better the modelling world. Several of them were victims but refused to press charge. The paper points out that a few model agencies could be worried in the future for failing to protect the models.

Snejana is always funny
She has her own conspiracy theories in the comments.

Victoria’s Secret After Party Shut Down Early by Police; Ming Xi Falls on Runway

Chinese authorities pulled the plug before midnight on the after party, and Ming Xi apologized for her catwalk stumble.

By Tiffany Ap on November 20, 2017

SHANGHAI — Victoria’s Secret’s run of bad luck continues. Its first time showing in China has been beset with problems, and after finally wrapping Monday’s show, its after party came to an early end when authorities ordered it to halt.

After the show taping wrapped just after 9 p.m., the crowd made its way to a neighboring building. Models including Lais Ribeiro, Bella Hadid, Taylor Hill and Grace Bol situated themselves in one section, but the dancing and partying was short-lived. Ten minutes before midnight, the music was cut abruptly, not long after DJ Victor Aime came on to perform.

“They want us to finish. We are sorry, we tried,” said a woman who had been directing the crowd to disperse over the microphone. A number of uniformed police officers had started to make their way in to the venue at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

The night was memorable although not necessarily for the right reasons. During the show, model Ming Xi took a hard fall on the runway, after seeming to get tangled in a voluminous cape she was wearing. She stayed down for several seconds but eventually got up, helped by a fellow model Gizele Oliveira and cheered on by the audience.

After the show, she took to Weibo, saying “Sorry to disappoint everyone, thank you for everyone’s concern. After modeling for seven years, on this journey I’ve fallen countless times…but I know that no matter how painful the fall, I must always stand up and finish walking. The future road is long and I will keep on going. Thank you all.”

Earlier, a cumbersome check-in process forced hundreds of guests to line up outside braving 9 degree Celsius — 48 Fahrenheit — temperatures for over half an hour before scrambling in the arena in a free-for-all seat situation.

It was so sad to watch Ming fall and in her hometown. I felt truly bad for her but at least it made for good, dramatic television and she kinda got a story arc of the underdog in the video and it is bringing her more mainstream attention. I am sure that this will lead to more opportunities for her to gain more exposure as a model. She should be made an official Angel, IMO. I've been following Ming since she started out and this is definitely not going to tarnish her career because she's very talented as a model, one of the best to emerge from the early 2010s no doubt. It might seem overblown now but I am sure this isn't going to destory her future. She can kind of be the underdog now who keeps on going in the media and fashion world. It's really quite a story that she could use in her favor.

Gizele is getting a lot of publicity and positive attention on social media. I can see her being an Angel...she really is one!

Thoughts?

"Victoria's Secret models are slammed for singing the N-word while rapping to Cardi B's hit song Bodak Yellow backstage during fashion show"

Some people are calling for them to be fired which I think is overkill. But in today's day and age, I would have thought people like Karlie Kloss would be a lot more cautious about posting things like this especially after Gigi's incident.
