Model Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

^I don't think the issue is whether people like Kim or not, more of what has she actually influenced that deserves such award.

I think she probably does influence, but not the people on this forum. She does not have many fans here.

And I won't comment on whether it is a positive influence...

I mean, I agree, but then Adwoa didn't deserve model of the year and she still got it. The industry Is a never-ending stream of meaningless awards. They all need to stop congratualating themselves so much

Well, obviously Kendall Jenner and Ben Simmons didnt last very long. (Anwar and Nicola broke up about a week ago)

I agree, she absolutely does influence people... her sheer following and ubiquity means any fashion trend she wears instantly appears on the screens of tens of millions all over the world! I'm also not a fan but i can acknowledge her genuine following and influence.

As for Adwoa Aboah, she's within her right to criticise Kim, but i don't know why she's on her high horse all of a sudden... she basically does the same thing as Kim day to day i.e. social media, photoshoots etc. Adwoa was named GQ's woman of the year in 2017, so i'd say they've both been given equally questionable awards. And if she implies Kim isn't worthy of the CFDA award, i'm sure there are plenty of people out there who could argue she didn't deserve woman of the year.. or model of the year as 333101 mentioned.

well from hearing Kim K., she says she also influences social change and positive body image so I think that's my problem with it? I mean Adwoa has won awards which are most likely based on her looks so it's not as much as a fuss for me idk...

Nobody ever said an influential figure has to be a good influence, especially in the fashion world.

Stick people in the same room as Kate Moss and you'd probably see them change their tune. Nobody would be talking their talk about the need to be a healthy influence on young girls, their tongues would be too busy operating like battery-powered bidets in the hope of being seen on the same level as a legend.

Social change, I'd like to know what that means (making it OK to name children after points of the compass??) ... but positive body image, I can see an argument there.

Who does Adwoa think she is to run her mouth like that? Her entire career in the fashion industry is built on connections, not actual talent. She's basically like a black Cara/Georgia. Running a little pet blog doesn't put you above the rest. Hate to defend Kim, or agree with Winnie (who's a rather despicable character herself), but the one thing Kim deserved was that Influencer award. Whether her influence was good or bad may be an entirely different conversation.

I was waiting for someone to write this.

I do not see how encouraging people to look grotesque through plastic surgery is a good development in body positivity.

But that's how you view them; it may not be the same for everyone. I mean even Hitler had his legions of fans.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Doutzen on the Vogue part (although it's actually one of the comments she liked, not what she wrote). I feel like fashion media tend to excessively put her and family in the spotlight to the point that it's kinda tiring and annoying.

This is exactly what summed up my problem with Vogue somehow, combined with me hating the insta-models due to overexposure. It's just that the media kept thinking they're the only ones who set trends.

And yes, Adwoa is a surprise. I basically didn't expect her to have the same mind as Doutzen although she literally wrote a comment of hers towards Winnie I believe, especially looking at the background check that she's actually one of those models.

The teeny upturned nose came about a few years ago; not a fan so I don't remember when, but early enough in her career that I guess it went unnoticed. You can tell from her early modeling photos. Recently her lips have definitely been filled.

Oh I completley forgot about that. Can't believe these women are insanely beautiful, they work for the best brands and they get plastic surgery. Like, you are already doing something right, there's no need for that.

Whatever floats their boat, I guess ...

Someone seems to agree with us :

Winny Harlow is so desperate and an attention wh*re.
Adowa is probably the worst recent model I've seen. Terrible walk and same face in every editorial/cover she's in.

Tbh nobody is a winner in this, Adwoa is successful due to nepotism, Winnie is just an obnoxious fame wh*re and as for Kim, well, I'm just not even getting into that. Tbh the only person involved who's opinion I respect it Doutzen because she actually had to work for it.

Bravo Doutzen!!!

Not really a fan of Adwoa but I think it's great that she publicly spoke out about this.

At the end of the day Kim just got a woman released from prison... what has Adwoa done that's so important? I'm sorry but looking 'unconventionally' beautiful doesn't make you God.
