Back to the family, I certainly don't think her husband is completely harmless, he runs a healthcare insurance company in a country completely f*cked up by pharma and health care lobbying and comes from a family where most relatives have shown that moral compass is not a family priority. But I still don't think that Karlie 'needs' to do more to define where she stands politically and socially. I actually think there's something problematic in that demand, in thinking that if you don't broadcast your sociopolitical beliefs somewhere and to the standard established by our attention-starved social media culture, you're therefore complicit with silence and part of the problem. It is very American, a very 'with us or against us' bipartisan mentality and I don't think it's healthy if you expect a society to understand each other and overcome the lack of trust that makes people run for the hills and dig up bs theories up there. I actually think that expectation is a fundamental part of the problem, not the high-profile subjects we project our hopes on..

Wrt the Kushner pardon, I think it's primarily the final flash of Jared Kushner's political power. It takes a special person to feel validated by, or find any relevance whatsoever in, a pardon from this president when the sentence for the crime has already been served years ago. Look forward to seeing how this 'honor' will age.
