Model Casting F/W 10.11

They are sent to casting directors who then request the girls for "go-sees" or directly book them. Just having a showcard does not even mean the girl is even in town sometimes, ie Ymre a couple of seasons ago for New York. And sometimes a girl can do castings and not even have a showcard included in the models.com package. Hope that helps :flower:

Interesting.
and a girl who doesn't have a showcard on models.com can be directly booked and her agency can send her pictures to casting directors?

and something more:
a new new new girl (this is her first season) can be directly booked for a big show, i dont know like balenciaga or lanvin, even chanel???

sorry my english s¿(&s ... i know:p

btw... prada and versace cast were really weird, no tanya d and a lots of new no-sexy girls... i cant belive it!!

Emporio/Georgio Armani is always like that, very un-trendy casting, with a few notable names sprinkled in.

yup, or sometimes a girl just is so new the agency had already compiled their showcards and were posted on model.com, that the brand new girl was left out of the package. Yet she is still booked for many shows, example would be Simona Adrejic @ Marilyn NY, went to do BCBG, Calvin Klein, Preen.. yet she was not a part of the show package on models.com at all, I think she was a VERY RECENT addition to their board. Also the case with Lindsay White @ IMG who did Marc Jacobs, Rodarte..

Yes this is what makes castings so exciting during fashion week.. the surprise new girls who come from nowhere, no hype building up to fashion week. Example Samantha Gradoville opening and closing Prada ;)

I dont get how girls such as
Maryna (did the VJC campaign), Snejana (prominent Versace girl), Catherine McNeil(campaign), and others werent in the show this season
and Maryna & Catherine havent done it since FW 08 excusing Catherine because of her runway break its weird

Assuming that she is not put in a hideous outfit, no one should be surprised that anyone who has done significant work for VS can perform adequately or better on a high fashion runway, even if she does not have a high fashion background. If a model has walked for VSFS, that means that she has already beat out thousands of models for her spot in the show and that she is comfortable and confident enough to parade around in her drawers before an arena full of people and in front of millions on TV. If you are an actual angel, you have most likely been interviewed on television, made appearances at store openings, walked the red carpet and been involved in charity work. I, like many others, didnt think that Doutzen look good at all, but a lot of that was the outfit, and while I think she failed to do what Miss Tyra refers to as "modelling through," she is not some cautionary tale against casting non-high fashion models.

These days being "high fashion" enough to be cast in most of the prestigious shows, editorials and campaigns is more about having the look that is in demand by the designers, photographers and editors, it is more an accident of birth than a skill. Don't get me wrong, to stay in the game past the point where you aren't the freshest young thing on the block takes some degree of skill, along with professionalism, good relationships and determination. Also there are models out there who I do consider as being highly skilled at the craft of fashion modeling like Natasha Poly, Anja Rubik and Raquel Zimmermann, but again for the most part high fashion is more about having the right look. No one should be surprised that a VS angel who regularly interacts with people from all walks of life can hold her own against an elfin / alienesque teenager who can barely walk in heels.

With that said the exclusion of Georgina at Versace is one of the most disappointing news for me this season...

It's SAD, that's what it is...I really do not understand the Versace cast for the second/somewhat third time in a row. I recognise youth being sexualised et al, but it's just awkard looking at it on runways...especially on a Versace runway. A brand which has an unbreakable image and branding profile because of its overruling presence in the 90's and the early zeroes as well. I can't believe that all those girls seem to be in town (MCB, Maryna, Georgina, Chanel (yes), Catherine, Carmen you name em) yet their high slit dresses are passed on to girls like Antonella and Rasa (no offence to them, I'm perfectly fine with them at most other shows) Thank GOD Yulia K, Edita and Natasha were there. Can you tell I am APPAWLED, what with all the caps and stuff :p

On slightly the same note but not quite, where the heck is Tanya D? More agency troubles? Ugh....I'm considering making a career move to gardening, I hate this industry

sad but true
I wonder what they were all thinking when they
put the cast in those dresses...Miley Cyrus and Dakota Fanning
would love these?

Casting this season has been such a mess. First with Marc Jacobs, then Prada and now Versace too?

Marc Jacobs & Prada nailed the casting this season but I need to give props for Maida & Rami for finally giving a chance for asians & blacks at Jil Sander...Thanks Raf Simons :flower: I wonder what's under Givenchy's sleeves this season? ;)

I know. Add Rodarte to that list too. Something aint right.

I still think the best casting of the season was at Alexander Wang.

Loved Jil Sander cast too! About Versace, I'm actually glad to see faces like Lindsey and Bregje doing the show, but casting Lisanne is a total misunderstood. Maybe because I don't get what people really do see in her.

yeah, I don't get that with Lisanne too. She was such a wrong choice, she just so not embodies the Versace vibe at all!
So all in all I think we are all sure this was a VERY weird versace cast!

Lisanne is a wrong choice in general this girl is deadly boring and a bad print model.

I guess this shouldn't turn into the 'I don't get Lisanne's appeal' thread
Having said that, I think she isn't a great runway presence. Her facial expression is so...bored. I'm surprised to see she's doing quite a lot of shows, but I think she's just one of those gap fillers. We'll see if she's still around in 3-4 seasons.
