Most Underrated Model

Kelli Lumi is certainly more talented than the amount of editorials she gets would let us know. She's got this unique face, delicate feature and expressions that allows us to think she's got a certain sense of humor too. Well, she's a great model, literally. Though, she received some good management everywhere she went (even if some of you won't agree about Major, truth is she did well with them too) and she didn't lack of exposure at the right moment. Some girls seem to reach a certain limit. It's the same for Uliana Tikhova or Masha Tyelna. It was the same with Dovile Virsilaite back in time but the only difference is that Dovile can also work well on a commercial level. Though, some girls like Emma Karlsson (who might appear as underrated somehow) survive with editorials only, keep on doing interesting jobs one after the other even if they don't make much money. I guess this career pattern is the best we can hope for Masha, Uli or Kelli. More would be kind of wishful thinking, as sad as it sounds.

The girl I think is truly underrated but it's also from my personal point of view, is Martina Correa. She's talented and got such a unique look. But well...

...........and especially sad in Masha's case since she (has) had excellent options (regarding VI by Steven Meisel & Richard Burbridge, i-D by Tim Walker, Japanese Numero, V by Mario Sorrenti, Russian Vogue) and did very well on the runway. It feels strange to see a former Dior-opener in rather hmmmm "down leagued" Japanese magazines.

Do you think that her failure could be caused on leaving Women and signign up with Joy & City? I seriously have no idea, cause Joy & Storm are rather considered good working agencies and belong to the strong houses of this industry, not like Women/IMG though. I don't know if there was a limit for Masha, it feels just like she became "out" (sorry for that manner of speaking).

Masha is actually the typical example of the girl who gets overrated very fast then becomes underrated even faster.

Vogue Italia with Meisel once doesn't bring any guarantee for the future of a girl's career and that's why I mentioned Dovile in my previous post (she did two spreads with him for this magazine plus a couple campaigns).

I don't think at all that Masha lost grip because of leaving Women. Her career slowed down already while she was still with Women. She clearly had her moment before her skills were really developed and that might be the reason her career downgraded. Now she seems more ready and increased her emotion palette in editorial, people think they saw everything of her while it's obviously not completely true. That's why I said she was first overrated (when her expressions in editorials were quite limited) then quite underrated right now.

No worries with the manner of saying it, it's not wrong to say she's "out" somehow. And actually it's the same as when I say there is a limit. Girls with limitless abilities have less chances to be out one day.

Aww yes, Martina, I totally agree. Sadly, I think she's one of those 'Marmite' models - you either love or hate her look.

I've spotted her twice in French Grazia lately (and somewhere else but can't remember). Of course it's not the most glorious magazine to give you some exposure but the editorials were more than decent and good for her book, both were booked by Wilhelmina by the way

Alyona Osmanova to me is underrated when I was talking to her on the train she felt the same way...

Altough Maryna gets work..I feel that she is still underrated...she brings something new each time to pictures and her last ed with US Harper's was amazing even though it was the same story Harper's gives

I would also like to add Nataliya Chabanenko. I don't understand how can someone with such an amazing face and incredible personality not be everywhere.

I agree about Elsa Sylvan and Yasmina Muratovich. Two stunning girls that deserve more time in the spotlight.

^ Had you said this any other season than this one, I wouldn't feel the need to respond but Alyona hasn't had a decent campaign in a looooong time and she didn't book as many shows either. Don't even get me started about editorials. So yes, I think she's underrated.

As far as Elsa goes (one of my favourites). Considering where she was just a few seasons ago, she's doing rather well for herself. Her runway score is nice but she definitely deserves more campaigns/editorials.
