What? You have totally taken the collection out of context and looked too deeply into the reason as to why the lot dislike it. Our views are not narrow minded. This season's collection is not aesthetically appealing nor wearable for most men.

I also do not think it has anything to do with conforming to one's ideal gender role. You all are looking too deep.

In my opinion a good collection provides some sort of social commentary, I don't think thats looking very deeply into it. Im sure she didn't sit in a room and decide she wanted some of these pieces for the sake of it. It was done as an expression. Im sure I wouldnt wear lots of it but I dont really care. Its provoking a strong reaction which is a positive thing. I understand people don't like it, but their expression of these views is unjust. If you call something **** at least explain why. Is it just that most men wouldn't wear it? I think you have missed the point of high fashion.

Upon looking at the whole show I think the early shots were the strongest of the lot, as a whole it isnt as ''ridiculous'' as many have said so far. I still think some of the comments in this thread are very backward thinking. So far I have found most of the collections this season to be very stagnant and this is an exception. This is art whether you like it or not, it is not trying to please the masses...

Secondly, I never said the collection was ****. I just did not find those first couple of photos appealing. Now that the collection has been posted in its entirety, I do see that only some pieces were done in ill taste.

There are some amazing fabric in there, but she just wants everybody to TALK about this, which, counting the no. of posts compared to other collections, she has achieved admirably. It will not hurt sales, for sure. Genius way of generating publicity.

In my mind, Prada is always surprising and weird and totally-no-ish at the first time, no matter for the mens wear or for the women's ready-to-wear. So is this collection.
I just wondered whether any men even gay would wear those pants or mini-skirts and show them in public when I read the first two pages. But after the complete show pictures, I found most of them are OK, maybe not that practical but still OK, I do love the shining, sparkling fabrics. Kind of Miu Miu there and kind of provocative.

I think all of us need more time to digest these. Obviously, Ms. Prada left a tough problem for us again.

On the subject of skirts for men in general, my favorite instance was the floor-sweeping pleated skirts at DH.

I think this is a big part of the collection here. Miuccia is making men work for fashion the way women have to work for fashion.

Agreed! The lack of conviction makes it highly irritating, that's what riles me the most. Honestly, skirts on men isn't new or shocking or gay, straight men have done it, Kurt Cobain? Hedi Slimane? If she really means it, do it better, and not make it ridiculous.

Im suprised in a place called the fashion spot there are so many narrow minded reviews, if you don't like progressive fashion there is always D&G, knowone is saying this is the difinitive collection...

I think we have got to a point where gender divides are often just what sex you are. Many people dress very androgenously, with trousers and shirts etc. Even wider culturally males and females are doing the same jobs for the same money. Is this not what the non-radical feminists wanted? I am fed up of having to conform to traditional masculine roles and I think this is a reflection of that. Although I have no real idea my insight is that she is realising this thin divide and having fun with it. Is this not what the essence of fashion is? I don't think it is a huge leap to go from Dior Homme (as an example) that I am sure most people absolutely adorded because is was progressive but in a traditionally masculine way. There is a point where detail comes to play a huge part in the identity of the collection, whether it be tighter fitting, smaller collars, playing with zip placement. Aside from the tutu's I don't think much of it is drastically different to something you may find in a 'traditional' collection, the details have made it so.

Having said all of this perhaps it is 'wierd for the sake of wierd' but I like it so far...I hope a video turns up soon...

Let's be honest here, the men who buy Prada don't bother with any of the runway pieces. They wear the fairly conservative, tried and true suits, nylon jackets, crew neck sweaters, leather belts, logo knit caps, etc. This collection and all its ideas will be forgotten with the next season. That's my perspective on this collection.

Beyond that, Miuccia and her creative team thought it was a good idea to make dropped crotch pants, very tight stretch tops, and tutus. No matter that the pants look as though they're made to accommodate chronic scrotum growth, or that the stretch tops look straight out a of a chelsea night club, or that the whole collection exudes the taste level of international male catalog circa 1999. I think the criticism of this collection is fair and grounded. It's not a big deal to play with gender, and certainly we don't find Dolce & Gabanna a suitable alternative, but I think this collection goes well beyond my comfort zones.

If you truly believe in this collection I'd suggest waiting until December when I'm sure it'll all be half off. I'm still waiting out on those stir-ups from this fall to go down further before I try to nab a pair.

Miuccia is always the one to push creativity and present her collections that question one at first yet later on spark a fascination of her work. Like always this collection managed to stand out amongst many. Perhaps the mini skirts are a bit outhere but still, Kudos to the her.
Can't wait to see this collection in editorial.

Why do I feel like I'm really drawn towards this?...Skirts on men are nothing new, ask JPG, John Galliano, Thierry Muggler, Margiela or even Hedi Slimane, but because it appears in a Prada show and suddenly it is unexceptably queer???? However, I do not like the minis in the show, it distracts from an otherwise intriguing and provoking show...like someone said, it's being absurd for the sake of being absurd...It complicates the styling which Prada shows are often known for...I wish she'd save this for MiuMiu though, but I like the rest of the show...I love the fabrications, the silhouettes, color palette and esp the double collared shirts

Interestingly enough, I want one of Gaultier's skirts. These are just so ridiculous, she's clearly so desperate and that's why its unacceptably queer.

i think those few pictures in the beginning are just for shock
when you get rid of the styling,
get rid of the mini-skirt, get rid of the underwear peeping up over the pants
it's just clothes again

i feel it's like only a trick
i really don't like this aspect of Prada
to make it look more than it is with styling
but really the clothes don't have much to say at all

but i do like some of the clothes i admit...
really lovely strange moiré fabrics, nice optical illusions..
and the colour palette, the nude fabrics, and colour/tone blocking
and also detached collars
