Prada S/S 08 Milan

This doesnt feel springy at all..rather grey and fallish...i like "some"of the pieces...buts its too gloomy for my taste

Just for everyones info. My fave artist James Jean did the artwork in the backround. It's featured on his blog.

:D:heart:

Thanks for letting us know! :D

Did he do the artwork for the printed fabrics, too?

I don't really like it. This for some reason, reminds me of something a Japanese designer could show.. somewhere in Paris. I don't know why though. The footwear seems interesting though.

"Prada have tons of money and a super power advertising behind it, so you will see it so much that you will surely ending up get used to it"

I hadn't payed much attention or noticed it... but it sounds completely true! Usually, I primarily might not be fond of a Prada collection.. but the way the pieces are repetitively shown in editorials get me used to them and I end up liking them.

I like it..it reminds me of Prada circa 2003? Quite grungy. The hair and make up are awesome. I was hoping they would go the direction of the resort collection (with those voluminous long skirts) but oh well

this is simply gorgeous.
i love the color palettes, the proportions and the shoes.
the styling is amazing too.
and i think it caters to women of varied curves then say, jil sander (which is another beautiful collection of course).

prada just seldom disappoints and again, i reiterate that the clothes are tons prettier than their bags.

I like the bookish vibe to the looks. The overall look is very 90's Prada...with the ankle lengths and mixed prints. It's very much along the lines of what Marc Jacobs was trying to achieve in New York.

The presentation, in my opinion is contrived. With the make-up and the terrible terrible shoes, I think you kind of lose sight of some stuff that would be beautiful to wear. It'd be interesting to see Prada's version of a broken down runway look; the way it's worn in real life..as a runway look.

anyway...this collection isn't going forward or back..it's just some clothes. :innocent:
yeah i feel..like they're made to look edgy, even punk-like, through the makeup and dark lighting, set design and way clothes are put together
if you were to put it on a blank headless mannequin, you'd probably get clothes that are actually very sweet

i think, design-wise, the way the cuts/hems are all swirly and also the weird flower prints/colours with the transparency are what makes it interesting
but this is only a small part of the collection
the rest i agree are just clothes

LOVE IT!
really people, I mean I always hate Miuccia's collection...but this one, really touched my heart, I love she went for the 70's vibe, there is a coolness, like someone said an acid trip, a secretary going on acid...beautifull colours, really flattering shapes (finally)
and I can't believe anybody is talking about ugliness, if this is ugly, what was last season!!!?? come on, she hitted rock bottom with the last F/W, I thought she went too far with that one in terms of ugliness...but this is refreshing to see...It's like my first Prada collection since so long!!!
I can't believe I like this!...
but I'm in love!

I'll disagree. This idea of being " too forward" is rather cliche, what happens is that Prada have tons of money and a super power advertising behind it, so you will see it so much that you will surely ending up get used to it and perhaps liking it as you may like Mickey Mouse. If you take the exact same collection and title it to a younger quite unknown designer surely most of people would hate it... as I do... excluding some very commercial pieces which I quite like I think this "money talks" collection... very disappointed.. and IMO I cannot really see a "old italian money" proper lady wearing it, it is for who aspire to and try very hard and when i see it on on the back of my mind the word "tacky" will come along.

:sick::sick::sick::sick: awful.
LOVE what you said!

i love this and i agree with what somebody said earlier, I like this better than the SS07 show.

The message this season is about as subtle as a hangover. Intentional ugliness has been done by Miuccia herself, and it was lost on me then. This time around though it's just obnoxious because it's not a revolt against what's going on in fashion. Stores like Urban Outfitters have been doing the tacky 70's printed smocks for a few seasons at this point, and they're ugly at $70. How much better do they look at $700?

I'll admit that I love those "women" prints with the nudes that look like an ink sketch, very Julie Verhoven.

Hate just about everything else. Hate that Miuccia's back to her "intelligent" thing, hate, hate, hate.

Those ochre plaids make me want to shower.
