Prada S/S 11 Milan

I'll never understand why celebrities always get to wear the clothes before the season its suppose to be worn.

and the onslaught of the Prada SS11 editorial season has begun already. I just got my American Vogue in and while I'm not at a scanner I can atleast say that it's in the Glow in the Dark spread. There are some fur stoles...and ther's the platform sandal. When I get to a scanner if no one has already done it I'll scan it.

Also, is this thread Prada in general? Do we discuss menswear as well because if so Prada menswear is already been shot for Hero magazine editorially.

Rihanna in Interview magazine wearing... well not wearing.. Holding a Fur Stole. Has anyone else noticed that these are actually never worn, just carried??

well, it is a spring/summer collection. so i'd imagine wearing a fox stole might be quite a uncomfortable proposition in an "inconvenient truth" world.

Does this have something to do with "image control" à la Balenciaga or it's just runway-inspired way to wear?

I don't know I mean in the ad campaign preview which has dissappeared although I know I posted it, one model(if I remember correctly) was wearing it... well sorta kinda... not really.

Here's Karlie, in December Vogue(America). Glow in the Dark Edit... again carrying the stole and those are in fact platforms from Prada as well

every season, that's true.

Every season there's one piece, from Miu Miu or Prada that swipes the board with it's grimey paws. There was that Miu Miu dress that was like on 4 or 5 covers, then there are those Miu Miu darn bell bottom pants that are popping up like the plaque, the Miu Miu jump suit from the resort show season... for SS11 it will def be this Prada fur stole...

oh and in the first image of Raquel someone said those platforms are Prada SS11.. are they?

Yes they are, i think that als season was Miu Miu in every ed and cover, know, it's Prada time, the shoes and the bananas print will be everywhere!

that prada ruffle dress made it's rounds, too, last season, just like the crystal chandelier dress did the season before that. you've got to hand it to her: miuccia prada, like many others, knows how to hit on the exact mood of a season that resonates with taste-makers worldwide.

But how often are they really using lesser known or even unknown designers in the most well known magazines? You can pretty much most always expect featured someone famous, like Prada

Depends on which magazines you're referring to. Vogue America does use some lesser known names... Vogue Paris not so much.

well, the reasons for that take two forms. first, for the fashion buying public, if you dropped fifty thousand dollars in their lap with no strings attached, it's reasonable to think they'd do the same themselves in their own life. yes, many of us fashion folk might race to buy niche labels, but many of us would also spend a fair share at the big names like prada.

also, many of these magazines, use these big names as sort of a fashionable touchstone to help push forward lesser known fashion houses. for example, in the december vogue, editors paired a prada skirt with an aquilano.rimondi silk jacket rather seamlessly (in the picture in post #168).
