Style.com's Top Ten F/W 07.08 Collections

My major problem was Lanvin. It was one of the more disappointing shows this season imo.

Giambattista Valli is also a surprising choice because as a whole I thought the collection was hit or miss.

I definitly think Donna Karan got snubbed, that was her best collection in a long time, and Givenchy also deserved to be on the list.

Like everyone I think Givenchy should be on the list, but they missed a lot of other designers...Roberto Cavalli, Christian Dior, Versace. And why the hell is Marc Jacobs there? Does he always have to be on the list? People keep calling Jacobs a "fashion icon", that's probably Vogue made him one.

^ Yeah last time was probably the worst season I've seen.

Zucca shoulda been there! it was the best collection for me! McQueen i loved too
agree about Nina Ricci and Jil Sander.

i was VERY disappointed with Jacobs and Balenciaga!

And where is Burberry?? That show ruled this season. I think this list is all advertising.

hm i knew nina ricci would make the list..i'm not complaining though
agreed with galliano, balenciaga and ysl in a way
don't agree with lanvin ( :( ), g valli (ann d or someone more worthy could've replaced that) or marc jacobs
yes givenchy and alexander mcqueen should have made the list!

I must be the only person who thought the the Marc Jacobs collection rocked! :ninja:

Of course I've hated all his collections for about three years, so I guess everyone who liked them before don't like the new look he's moved into

WTF? I don't think that G. Valli, MJ, YSL or Marni should be there. Marni? Lordy, sooooo off base! No Givenchy? What were they smoking when they compiled this list?

Marc Jacobs (always on the list, but I like it this time)
Jil Sander
Proenza Schouler
Nina Ricci
John Galliano
and sort of Giambatistta Vali are the ones I agree with...

... and thats a whole lot more than usual.

oh i love marni! it's very urban or something. just what i think ^_^

I think its an adequate list. I always find the style.com top tens to be quite political. Im glad to see John Galliano there, I think Im the only one who is pleased to see Nina Ricci up there!
I was surprised Versace and Givenchy didnt get a mention after style.com gave them such rave reveiws...?

i think most of the colelctions picked had such strong concepts, very sculptural---- except for proenza and marc.
I thought maybe i would later be impressed by prada, but after seeing the collection in person, i left craving the bags, a f/w prada parka/trench thing---but none of the new stuff. in person it really looks like old lady swimsuits and undies---not futuristically girly and glam as the ads suggest. M&M deserved every penny.

i agree with most the pics

Giambattista Valli:clap:

not familiar to me, but i will definately have to check out this collection.

No Trovata?!? Naah just kidding, don't worry
Balenciaga was my personal favorite so I'm quite content about it. I don't think Lanvin really deserved it. And seems like one collection that's missing in the list is Burberry...

I wasnt sure about balenciaga at first but it really grew on me. I actually didnt like valli this season as much as most people. I think burberry prorsum should've been on the list though.

I dont think Vogue even covered HBouse of Holland, but it was a pretty funky show.

i think HOUSE OF HOLLAND and preen should have made the list.
house of holland? i think you actually have to design something to be considered a designer

The list should be expected. I have few problems with it. Agree with Jil Sander, YSL, Ricci.

Balenciaga is a bit controversial, while I liked it, there was nothing innovative about it.

Marc Jacobs, while a traverse into unfamiliar territory, is nothing new for fashion, even to the point of being dated.

Proenza Schouler was one of the few decent New York collections, a distinction that should be recognized.

Glad to see Galliano back on the list. Not my favorite show, but there was a romance and novelty there, something that was missing from the shows this season.
