Behind The Scenes With Balenciaga
July 11, 2011 9:45 am
Balenciaga bucked tradition debuting its new Fall ad campaign. Rather than break the images in a magazine and wait for some enterprising fashion spotter to scan them in and send them around, the label unveiled the Marie-Amélie Sauvé-styled and Steven Meisel-shot images online. Now you can go backstage online, too. In the new behind-the-scenes video, debuting exclusively above, catch models posing and strutting (and being attended to by the usual fashion-shoot phalanx of stylists, makeup artists, and minders) at the Harlem church where several of the images were shot on location. Kate Elson (yes, Karen’s sister) shot the video, which features models including Liisa Winkler and Julia Nobis. Soundtrack sound familiar? It will if you were at the show. It’s a remix of Rufus Wainwright’s “Tiergarten,” which played as the girls marched down the Paris runway back in March.
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the most successful model of them all?
According to Fashion Spot, this year it's Anja Rubik!
The Polish-born beauty was named the World's Top Model, after models were ranked in several categories, including the number of runways the model has walked in the past 12 months and the amount of social media followers each has.
Rubik appeared in 59 print publications (this includes magazine editorials and ad campaigns), walked in 43 shows, has almost 55,000 Facebook fans and Twitter followers, and has been Googled about 3 million times in the past year alone.
The other contenders were runner-up Freja Beha Erichsen, followed by Lara Stone in third, then Abbey Lee Kershaw, and finally Constance Jablonski in fifth.
I don't even think they were referring to us. because TheFashionSpot is one word and we don't call ourselves "fashion spotters" anyway. Most publications will refer to us as simply "someone from the fashionspot".
"The worst is when you read things on the Internet blogs, because people don't hold back. Sometimes you read wonderful things, but sometimes it's really awful stuff. Like on the Fashion Spot, for example, people always comment on you. They forget that we might read that stuff."
^^i don't think it's a sudden thing![]()
If they think people say vicious things on the internet, they better jump out of the game before it starts. I assure you just as vicious things are uttered straight to models' faces at castings and jobs. As far as tFS goes, I feel like the comments are mostly constructive criticism or the distaste is stated in a thoughtful way, even without moderation I see very few comments really tearing a model apart.
The Fashion Spot – Nothing beats a forum if you are in need of a whole lot of opinions and primary information. The Fashion Spot’s forum is well trafficked and organizes its information under a wide array of headings for easy navigation.
