Steve Honig, Lindsay's rep, tells TMZ, "Lindsay is cooperating fully with law enforcement. She has answered all their questions and provided them with everything they have asked for."

Except, of course, whatever was in the pink bag that they all couldn't wait to hide and get rid of....(I bet it was one of those Hello Kitty bags- they are very valuable!!)

since the lie about the truck driver failed she is now blaming the car

Lindsay Lohan is now telling friends the breaks on her rented Porsche DIDN'T WORK and that's why she slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler ... TMZ has learned.

As TMZ first reported, in the moments following the accident, Lindsay claimed the semi-truck cut her off ... and that is what caused the accident. The driver of the truck told TMZ that was not the case and has witnesses to back up his tale.

According to our sources, Lindsay is sticking with the "truck cut me off!!!" story, but with a twist ... she claims she slammed on the brakes ... but nothing. And get this ... somehow Lindsay says she was told the brakes on the rental were replaced two days before the crash.

Lindsay is telling people she feels lucky to be alive, having only suffered cuts and bruises ... no serious injuries.

Considering her driving history, one of these days ... well, let's just say she needs a driver.

I think the most annoying aspect of this whole thing is that there has been so much judgement due to comments from "sources." Those sources aren't credible. It's so unfair to pass judgement on Lindsay for anything that is purely speculation. Unless it's a direct quote given from Lindsay to a reliable news source or publication, and it didn't come through some trashy gossip website through a random third party, it's totally absurd to be judging her for any pink bag or anything she's allegedly saying about how the crash happened.

Wait until police reports are filed. Wait until Lindsay says something herself. Otherwise it's seems to completely trivial and vile to be criticizing Lindsay, ESPECIALLY when so many people will say anything about her if offered a payment or publicity.

Why can't she just film taht movie and leave us alone, and people leav her alone for god sake!! People complain about her but they still talk about her every single day.
They want to get rid of over but they can't help but commenting everything she does. By commenting I mean condemning of course.
She's definitely close to Liz when it comes to the media frenzy, even though Liz got the Pope condemning her behaviour publically. Must be the only limit Linds haven't crossed yet.

Lindsay Lohan was driving with an open container of alcohol when she crashed into a truck Friday on the Pacific Coast Highway...

Both law enforcement sources and the tow truck driver tell us ... cops confiscated a plastic water bottle from the trunk of the Porsche, and our law enforcement sources tell us the bottle contained alcohol. Another law enforcement source tells us the bottle was actually in the debris field and scooped up along with other parts and placed in the trunk before it was towed away.

It's not a violation to carry an open container in a trunk, so Lindsay is in the clear. And according to cops she had no alcohol in her system.

Nevertheless, Lindsay has been to rehab several times, so it's not the swiftest move to roll with booze.
