US Vogue October 2015 : Lupita Nyong'o by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

^ It definitely looks like a cover try, great find! I love seeing cover out-takes. It's a very pretty shot but I love the strength and beautiful colours in the final cover.

The outtake is beautiful but it's very reminiscent to their May cover!

I would also turn this blue cover down, but the Chanel shot really shouldve been considered. This was a really beautiful eshoot though, everything came together pretty well. Can anyobe ID her dress in the shot above?

Who would've guessed that outtake was by M&M? It looks 300% Testinoish.

Just so everyone is clear, that photo of Lupita in the blue dress is NOT an outtake. The photo can be seen in the "Letter from the Editor" column.

For me it is a outtake for the cover.

PD: Can you please post the photo in better quality please.

I quite like the cover, actually. And yes, that editorial is epic and reminds of those early aughts lavish productions they did with Renee Zellweger and the like.

I forgot to check who edited this but goooorgeous textures!..

Tonne Goodman.

I really think Anna is stealthily prepping her to take over the magazine, any day now. She knows it needs a new perspective. As someone else pointed out, no Grace Coddington work to be found in this issue.

Hmm I don't think Tonne is being prepped as a replacement. I think Tonne, a stylist, taking over the magazine would be a radical change for them. It's gonna be US Vogue turning into VP where the EIC is very hands on with the fashion features, making it more fashion oriented. We all know US Vogue is not just a fashion magazine but also dives into political, economic and social realms. But I see Tonne being groomed to be the next Grace Coddington of the magazine.

Elle, Vogue and Bazaar has followed this formula for quite some time now and I don't think they're bound to change it anytime soon. I think it's what makes these magazines work - the lack of direct participation of the EICs in the features thus making every issue a collective effort / vision of the entire team and not just of the EIC. Look at what happened to VP, the EIC being hands on with the fashion and her vision being 70s/80s oriented... Thus everything shifted that way.

lol this is bad... she looks like she is only 2D and where is her neck? poor Lupita...

^^Didn't expect such fun and fabulous styling from Tabitha. It reminds me of McQueen's Givenchy "Eclect Dissect" collection for some reason.

Love Flights of Fancy, don't care for the birds but the styling and even the photograhy are great imo
Thanks for sharing.

Seems like a fantastic issue. Even though the cover is subpar, that editorial is truly sublime!
