V Magazine 47 : Catherine McNeil by Mario Testino

*Yawn*.... this girl is so overrated it's unreal
Those 2 shots look mediocre to be honest.

Olga looks heavenly on the other hand :crush:

i cant agree with you: then model on the cover wasn`t that rare than now and they didn`t declare her as a star, there`s one article( with 2 david sims photos) about her and one multi-models inez and vinoodh ed where she has only one page as any other model ( as even ben grimes) but now i fell like someone impose me his goods on the market
looks shabby

Yeah, it's just shameful. Advertising a new star, what has become of the world - they should just all be non-descript and boring so that the wonderful clothes and the wonderful photographer can shine...^_^

Can't say I'm too impressed by her...I mean she has a Newton body and all that...hmmm...but there's something slightly plastic about her. Hopefully this issue will prove me wrong ;)

unneccesary hype.

i agree with iluvjeisa, she does have a plastic-y feel to her. i'm still not sold.

i almost spit out my water when i read this, YAY for catherine this is HUGE!

yeah. first Doutzen, then Agyness, and now Catherine. remember when Daria graced on a V cover soon after she got big? it seems Catherine has followed in Daria's footsteps. and its interesting to know that she signed an exclusive contract with Testino, which means we're going to see a lot of this girl in future Vogue Paris issues, maybe?

She looks good but is she going to become a top model? No way. Totally overhyped. There are tons or models out there with much more distinct looks

Genius. Can't wait for this! Naomi + Nick Knight = A winning team.
I completely agree & I'm looking forward to seeing that. ^_^

Catherine is pretty but I think that she's overrated. I agree with those that said she seems a little plastic, but it's impressive that she got a six-month exclusive contract with Mario. I've always liked his work so maybe he can help me change my mind.

Yay, Catherine! I can't wait for this issue :woot:
Also, the Naomi Campbell ed is something I look forward to.

go Catherine!

i don't know...like many others, i usually HATE being told that so and so is the Next Big Thing, but in the case of Catherine, as an aussie i'm really proud of her and also from her interviews she seems very genuine and grounded. She's from Brisbane which is not exactly a metropolis and to me is extremely down to earth and much more "approachable" and down to earth as modelling isn't the center of her life.

she looks really really uninteresting when photographed straight on, like the shot here and the one from D&G pre-fall. I like the other pic but I don't think it's her making that shot work. B) Definatley only a runway model.

Well, they had a new young model on the cover for the july/august 2003 issue announcing her as the big new star in fashion: Daria

yea, but daria had already walked a bunch of shows at the f/w 03.04 shows (which are in february) and appeared in vogue, vogue italia and vogue paris...

the pics of naomi are so much more interesting and would have made a perfect cover...

Shirtless, All-American, sexually suggestive, boring guys in little clothing? Looking like Bruce Webber has an editorial. Sick. Though I do love that artwork of the Balenciaga shoe from this season.

i hate all those loud statement as "a star is born" blablabla
which star???!!! girl, who appeared in 2-3 lame national Australian mags?

I agree with you about the "A Star Is Born" and "Supermodel" quotes - they are just too much, and slightly pre-emptive.

However, I find the Australian mag-bashing slightly offensive. Yes, we do not have a V, Numero, i-D, etc., equivalent (or a Vogue that is anywhere near as good as the big-four) in Australia, but our magazine industry is not "lame".

Of course the fashion industry in Australia is miniscule compared to America or Europe so, naturally, our magazines don't have as much money or as much talent to draw from, but we still produce fashion magazines (and a growing number) and they're not that bad.

There are many talented people who put in a lot of effort into our magazines, thus, I think it's unfair to patronise them as lame.

Catherine has appeared in some great Australian magazines such as Russh and Oyster and appeared in stunning Harper's Bazaar Australia editorials plus loads of others.

I hope I don't sound accusatory, I'm just saying how I feel. I am genuinely happy for Catherine, and sincerely hope she can live up to this MASSIVE hype.
