Versace for H&M

no polyester? this should be GOOD! (i hate polyester suits )

but damn, this ish won't be cheap at ALL.

i guess they must be really hurting cause i don't think we ever got such an early preview of the collection as we did now.

you are correct. H&M's profits are wayyyy down. they are announcing this now to try to entice investors into buying more shares. unfortunately their profits wont rise much as the collection will be so limited.

I don't think I fit in Versace's clientele but I find this pretty exciting. I love the futuristic silver mini dress already.

THis is absolute insanity!!! Do you think the prices will be more than the Lanvin collab? I don't think the market could bear it any higher IMO, atleast I hope not! The prices were what turned me off to most of the Lanvin pieces anyway.

^ What were the prices for the Lanvin pieces, while we're at the subject? I remember when I was at US at the time, it was pure lunacy and I didn't note the prices.

The prices were insane outside of the UK and the US. I have no idea what Americans were complaining about, we paid nearly twice as much in Scandinavia.

^ Could you give me an example? Perhaps with something that you bought? Just so I know what these collaborations are like, since I've never bought any before. But it probably goes without saying that Versace, one of the highest priced brands ever, will be more expensive that Lanvin?

shoes: generally priced at €99
dresses started at €129 climbing up to €199 (for the tulle dresses, which sat around forever)
most expensive item was the silk trench with faux fur collar, at €299 (a crazy amount to ask for at H&M)

the cheapest items were the t-shirts, but they were generally well made and the embroidery on top was really well done (idc what anyone else says )

men's shirts clocked in at €39-49, blazers were €129, the most expensive pieces were the tuxedo and the woolcoat (which fit very weirdly on me. it was cut too straight for my taste) at €199.

the shoes for men were €79.

i honestly don't think H&M can charge much more than that. they were testing their limits already with this.

the UK prices were unjustly lower. i would have been cheaper to fly there via a cheap airline and shop there. the same applied to the Jimmy Choo collection.

I wonder if she changed her mind after seeing the Lanvin for H&M collab? The quality of the dresses was outstanding. It was more Lanvin than H&M really.

Quality?! Have you seen one of them? The quality is the same as any other h&m garment, maybe a bit better but still poor.

The quality was in no way poor. At all.

I have a blazer which is beautifully made, in fact it's a nicer fit and nicer finish than some main line pieces I've had. For the money the quality was great.

i have no idea which pieces you tried, but i gotta chime into the chorus of 'The quality was great'

maybe you were fooled too by the unraveled ends?

the fabrics felt weighty and substantial, the stitching was well done, the zippers were the ones used by Lanvin themselves, the tulle dresses had actual silk lining, which isn't such a common occurrence, in times when Lanvin, Dior and any other highend brand would rather opt for polyester, rayon or some other polyblend for their lining (if any).

I'm starting to warm up to this Versace-thing. Mainly because the alternatives are frightening.

Same for me, it could've got a lot worse, Valentino, as you said, or Jeremy Scott, perhaps. I'm pretty excited for this one now as well.

I'm so excited for this collection... So far the collection really feels like Versace, just the leather jacket... OMG!

^ What were the prices for the Lanvin pieces, while we're at the subject? I remember when I was at US at the time, it was pure lunacy and I didn't note the prices.

I remember the 1 shouldered dress being around $200 and the coat with the fur around the collar hovering around $350.

there were good initial sales, but lots of returns too. especially the red and black tulle dresses were still hanging around until after Christmas.
i live in the 'burbs of la and as recent as may there were tons of dresses and coats hanging on the discount racks, and a lot were falling apart. This was even at stores that never carried the collection in the first place. really disappointing.

countries with online sales meaning that the collection will be ONLY available online?

and oh my, black leather combo with gold studs. the sound of it is SUPER tacky. i wonder how it'll turn out. now we gotta wait all the way till September to get better pictures...

i don't know either, Street_a_Licious. the wording in both the press releases i've read have been confusing, obviously they were written by someone who has english as a second language.

all i know is the spring collection will not be made available in the US as the online e-shop date has been pushed back even further.
