Versace for H&M

Maybe, but the fabrics are terrible.
Have you ever seen a Lanvin dress? Exact same fabric. Lanvin produced the fabrics for that collab, I'm wondering if Versace is doing the same.

Most people think that because it's H&M it must be bad quality, but most people wouldn't know good quality and construction if it hit them in the head. I have no doubt that this collection will be a lot more expensive than the regular H&M line, but I just don't like the Versace aesthetics :( The pieces do look lovely.

I would reconsider if they did a pair of black leather pants though. :D

I need to start working... NOW.
I can imagine the stores being flooded with people. Oh boy :)

VERSACE will design for H&M this year, becoming the latest high fashion label to work with the Swedish high street brand.
"I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching its wide audience," Donatella Versace said this morning. "The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere."
The announcement marks a turnaround for Versace, who in 2008 claimed that a high street diffusion line simply wasn't the Versace way. "I respect everyone who does it. But the reason I didn't do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand," she told New York Magazine. However, rather than 'diffusion', this line is being sold as an 'Iconic Collection' for which Donatella will raid the archives of the Italian fashion house that was founded by her brother Gianni in 1978.
No doubt hoping to have the same affect on shoppers as Alber Elbaz last year, when his Lanvin for H&M collection sold out in a matter of minutes (with many items subsequently selling for even greater prices on eBay), Donatella will launch H&M menswear, womenswear and homeware which will go on sale on November 17 - shortly followed by a pre-spring collection that will be available online from January 19.
"Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant - everything Versace stands for," said Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M - who has masterminded collaborations with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garcons and Jimmy Choo in the past. "Donatella Versace is sharing with us iconic designs from the archives. This is such a celebratory collaboration and is perfect for the party season."
Expect studded leather and colourful prints for the girls; sharp tailoring and plenty of bling for the boys - and substantial queues down Regent Street in November.

^And I don't like the collab because I don't like Versace the slightest bit

That's my problem, too, but I guess I'll find a nice shirt or blazer. Especially that I missed all the Lanvin stuff last time :(

Oh, and the home-wear idea sounds really exciting! I feel that will be my target area in the end, lol.

Homeware...not homewear. Homeware as in sheets, cushions and all that.

So that's why Donatella was taking such a long bow in her new dress at the Uomo show last night.

It kinda seems, that Versace is trying to exploit new demoraphics. Lady Gaga just announced (probably more of a marketing gig) that she'll Versace through the next two month permanently, the pre-collection being exclusively distributed online, all the twittering and now the collection for H&M.

Me too! The jacket is a must. And I also love love love the white dress.

That's gonna be interesting collaboration
I'm really excited for this collection

I haven't been a fan of Versace's last 2 collections but from what I see in the H&M spoilers it looks quite nice. What I don't understand is how come every big brand is doing this collaboration with H&M.. it's getting hideous.

Whats available for view here is quite nice... will definitely sell out like the last colabs.

Ah well, and I was hoping for Alexander Wang. Next time, hopefully.
Some of the Versace pieces look quite nice though.
