Vmagazine.com and Supreme Management Model Search 2008

Jacquie's mother agent is Chantale Nadeau; Giovanni is her Toronto agent. There are some words of support on Chantale's news page.

Someone should write the real rules of the Supreme model search for the entrants. Feel free to improve on this.

Models wanted: extremely tall, extremely t**n, slightly odd. Conventional beauty need not apply.

Canadian or foreign mother agent optional.

Don't bother getting your friends to vote. There is only one vote that counts.

Personal statement:
The fashion industry is a business that I am interested in for many reasons. I love traveling and meeting new people which will expose me to different cultures. Fashion is a universal part of culture today and speaks to everyone, despite language barriers. I subscribe to many fashion magazines, including VMAG. I always flip through the pages, admiring the beautiful clothes, and the girls, hoping one day I could be among them"

Ahh this girl is absolutley gorgeous. I think she has what it takes to get to the top. She reminds me of a cross between Lindsay Ellingson and Lily Donaldson.

Well I guess these are my favourites of the entries at this point...although the 3rd kinda looks like Amanda Laine, the 5th is a poor-mans Karlie/Tallulah and I don't think the last girl would suit Supreme at all.. but I think she's cute.

For entrants:

according to Supreme's own promotional materials, this is the desired look:

Anyone know what happened to this girl Courtney? I can't find her profile anymore on V and she's no longer on the Mode site either.

ETA: I found her on Mode's site - although she's not linked on the actual board - it says she's placed in NY, so I guess an agency already picked her up.

The contest rules have changed.

Old rules:

1. Eligibility. V MAGAZINE LLC. AND SUPREME MANAGEMENT (COLLECTIVELY, “SPONSOR") ARE THE SPONSORS OF THIS CONTEST (“CONTEST”). THIS CONTEST IS OPEN ONLY TO FEMALES WHO ARE, AT THE TIME OF ENTRY AND AWARD OF PRIZE: (A) AT LEAST 13 YEARS OF AGE AND BETWEEN 5'7" AND 5'11" TALL AND (B)LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES, RUSSIA, LATVIA, ESTONIA, THE UNITED KINGDOM, CANADA, DENMARK, NORWAY, SWEDEN OR BRAZIL. IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE FOREGOING CRITERIA, YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO ENTER OR WIN A PRIZE (EACH, AN “ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANT”). Models who have previously performed services for other agencies, but who are not currently under contract, are eligible to enter provided they have not earned more than $25,000 in modeling fees in any one year during the last ten years. Models under contract with a modeling agency or who have earned more than $25,000 in modeling fees in any one year during the last ten years are ineligible. All employees of Sponsor, its parent, affiliates and subsidiaries, and the immediate families and household members of all such employees, are not eligible.

The revised rules are much clearer. They changed the eligibility thing. Nothing about agencies anymore. The eligible countries have changed too.

They have also made a clearer distinction between the popular vote winner (gets photos in mag) and the finalists chosen by Supreme (get the trip). Good.

Also entrants can select whether or not they wish to be on the web site for the popular vote contest. Good.

Much better rules (except for misspelling "Australia", boo lawyers). Looks like some agencies in Aussie-land, Ukraine and Holland wanted to submit some more great girls. Poor Quebec, they will insist on having their own laws for everything, and no one outside Canada can be bothered with that, so they just routinely exclude them on legal forms.

Interesting. I much prefer the idea of fresh, unsigned girls, but what can you do . I take it then its possible Courtney is still in the competition and just opted out of having her profile public.

Anyway, my votes have been going towards Laurel.

girl has got style :heart:B)

Well, since the popular vote contest is not the real prize, no need to be on the web site.

Curious about the dates...

The Contest ... ends on August 1, 2008 at 11:59 PM ET

Judging to determine Finalists will be conducted on or about August 7, 2008.

but...

Finalists and travel companions are responsible for obtaining all the necessary travel insurance, visas, passports, or other travel documents ... so that they have the legal capacity to travel to New York City, which must be confirmed prior to July 22, 2008.

Finalist judging will be conducted during the Finalists’ trip during the week of August 3, 2008.

Better not leave that entry to the last minute kiddies.

To me that sounds like the agency ringers are decided a bit earlier, so they can travel to NY in the first week of August. Or time travel has been invented.

Also curious about the prize:

(b) Prize. The Grand Prize winner will receive (i) a three (3) year, exclusive (as to all rights) agreement for model representation by Supreme Management (ARV $ 150,0000 USD or €110,116 EUR); (ii) a Calvin Klein wardrobe determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion (ARV $5,000 USD or €3,662 EUR); and (iii) a four (4) page story in a 2008 issue of V Magazine. Total ARV of entire Grand Prize $20,000 USD or €14,652 EUR. The Grand Prize winner (or the winner’s parent or legal guardian if the winner is under the age of majority in her jurisdiction of residence) must sign Supreme Management's standard model representation agreement without changes or negotiation. A copy of the agreement is available here http://www.vmagazine.com/vamodel/SupremeModelAgrmnt.pdf

There is no link to the agreement. Nor is this the address. I think every entrant should see what they are required to sign without changes or negotiation, in advance. This is a total fudge.

I suppose contests are required to state the "average retail value" of prizes, and I am interested to see the ARV of the contract is $150K, but what are the tax implications and why is the total ARV only $20K?

more bugs noticed in the web site/procedures:

If you go to enter, the pull-down list of countries is from the original, not the current list of countries. Get a fresh set of eyes to test your stuff guys, don't you have magazine editors hanging around?

As part of your entry you must indicate whether or not you would like your Photographs posted on the Site for voting as part of the Popular Vote Prize specified below.
There is nowhere in the entry process to select whether or not you want your pictures displayed. They are all displayed. (I really hate random capitalization too. For this I blame lawyers, in their endless battle against the English language.)

Now it is the countdown for the ringers to appear. Anyone seen one?

Newest entries are put on top of the zero vote section.

Good eye! Well, Elmer Olsen's candidate won the last time. Maybe you've found the five ringers. Any other guesses?

I haven't seen any entries from Holland or Australia. Possibly more entries still to show up at the last minute.

Here's the 5 I think have a chance at being finalists (going for the tall girls)

Courtney 5'11, 16 (mode) / Franny 5'11, 18 (elmer) / Laurel 5'11, 21 / Marijn 6'0, 21 (ulla) / Marina 6'0, 15
