Vogue France December 2024/January 2025 : Loli Bahia by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

The cover is fab, but the editorial is extremely boring, dare I say I miss their crazy post production photoshop kills

I am... SOLD. Love how French, chic, and polished this is. There's a warmth from the lighting which I can appreciate this time of year, and it's all working. Perhaps a hint of expression from Loli Bahia wouldn't have gone amiss but I'm not complaining. Obsessed with the Robert Palmer-esque makeup look, the voluminous blunt bob, the Chanel, and the font...

^^^^ I miss that glorious wax skin!

It is a chic cover and editorial. But the hair is indeed too much. 1967 vibes or something.

I like the layout, quite Italian Vogue '99. And after months (maybe years), a cover that has French identity. Wish she had a stronger posing and face. But there's a distance from this year full of American reprints.

The first issue under Claire Thomson-Jonville
Tronchu is out? I didn't knew. I guess the reprint fest on their covers was a clue of what was happening. I hope the new HOC keeps Meisel on board. Seems her aesthethic is closer to Steven's work.

I normally like Loli, Alastair mckimm and even sometimes Mert and Marcus, but something is off with this story. It’s so full of stamps that they need to add a baguette. And this photo with Loli in lingerie on the streets (out of the blue and so unnecessary) and twisted seam on stockings on this classically over retouched work of Mert and Marcus looks just wrong.
However this will be the first issue of Vogue France I am going to buy after a huge pause since October 2021 (last issue under e.alt) and before this I purchased every issue since 2001…

I like the cover but i dont get the hype with this Loli girl, she always gives nothing, but good for her i guess (?)

Just place her head in the middle of the G and get rid of the rest of the G.

I like this, Vogue France can't help but morphing back into its formal fabulous self... Vogue Pance
I find Loli appealing in the way tomboys often are. M&M is very capable of transforming a girl and evoking the past without being too literal about it now. This gives me a bit of that dark glamour in the VP tradition, last seen with Daria in Sep '12. The shot of her down the stairs is very in keeping with their tradition.
Have no idea about Claire Thomson-Jonville, thanks @caioherrero
