Vogue Paris December 2008/January 2009 : Stéphanie de Monaco by Mert & Marcus

^You've already stated & quite clearly may I add what your opinion of this issue of Vogue Paris is. So why are you in here WhiteLinen... perhaps to provoke some sort of an argument... where there isn't any?

Perhaps I misunderstood what BerlinRocks said, but I interpreted what he wrote as "this thread is popular, thus the issue must be good". I disagreed with that and said that I don't think we can use that logic to everything, thus it might be invalid logic :flower:

Just because I don't like this issue does not mean I am not interested in finding out what others think of it - because I am interested in what these forums offer, and that is discussion. I don't think that is breaking the forum rules. I get it that if I were here posting over and over and over again how I hate the magazine, or attacking members, that would be unacceptable behaviour... but that is not at all how I am acting here. I was simply making a point about a certain logic. Perhaps you misunderstood me or I didn't make myself clear enough?

I have stated my opinion about this particular issue in one single post and I do not intend to state it again - because I have said it already. Again, I repeat this: the post you started to comment on was not about this issue of Vogue Paris. Or any other specific issue of a magazine. Please do not make my words into something I did not write. I was merely pointing out that I thought a certain logic was invalid.

I wasn't stating an opinion about either of these magazines.

I don't think what I wrote differs in any way of what BerlinRocks stated... I was pointing out another way to look at things - in my opinion popularity is never a good measure on how good something is - and that was just what, at least how I understood it, Berlin was saying.

Regardless what is my personal opinion of Vogue US (in fact, I much prefer it to Vogue Paris, if you must know), I know that it is rather hated by many people who are into fashion. I mean, TFS has even a threads that concern what should be changed in it and how bad it has gotten under Anna Wintour - because there is a good portion of TFSers here who don't like the magazine's direction. And most of the talk at the Dec thread was about how, again, Vogue US has made a huge mistake in putting Jennifer Aniston on the cover and including a quite personal interview with her.

Vogue Paris, on the other hand, is beloved.

I was simply pointing out that lots of views does not equal a good magazine... I was NOT stating my personal opinion about the said magazines, merely saying that I didn't think BerlinRocks's theory was right.

omg ....
what theory is that, please ?!
i didn't write because the thread had more viewers than Vogue Russia's one makes this month Vogue Paris better ...
I was just giving figures ... and yeah VP seems more popular than some magazines ... does it make it better ?! i am not a judge to tell ...

the opinions counts !
now you are here you shared yours you don't like it ... that's ok.

but please don't reinterpret my posts .... because that's twice just in this thread : this and the p*rno chic .... that you misunderstood - because sincerely considering pin-ups poses and lingerie as p*rno :ninja: have you ever watch what a real p*rno movie or magazine is ?! erotic ok ... p*rn*gr*ph*c ?! never ... unless you're still living in the 1940s ..... :innocent:

thanks in advance.
yours truly !

This issue is incredible! OMG, why is VP always exciting?????
Everything in this issue looks very great but my favorite thing is Iris' ed.
Thanks for the review and scans, BerlinRocks & Diorette :)

I really hope I get the calendar. I got the 2008 calendar last year.. so fingers crossed.

and people can talk ... but VP makes the score AGAIN ...
the thread is opened since yesterday and it has been viewed by 10.486 tfs-er and guests ... in comparison Vogue Russia Naomi issue (opened 1 week ago) had 10.324 viewers ....
I do think this comment of yours is a bit childish, and i agree with what White Linen said, entirely. No need to get so defensive everytime someone posts their opinion that is not positive about this issue, this is why we are here to discuss and exchange different points of view about the magazine.

This issue is a tremendous dissappointment to me, from the cover, and its subject to the contents, its just nothing that interests me, it fails totally to get me to buy the magazine, in fact this is the first time ever in my life when i will rather buy American Vogue instead of Paris. And i am pretty sure if this was US Vogue's cover there would be tons of criticism..........

thanks for the previews. I like the look of Milla's ed.

Love Suvi and Iris' ed. Both are stunning.

Miss Dalloway is going over to the dark side & buying US Vogue this month   I don't think you'll be disappointed anyway... there's a lot of goodness in it.

As for the rest... I'd love to continue this discussion myself... but I'm too busy right now... trying to find my leather pants :zorro:

^and afterall its just a silly magazine...

.. what some people feel strongly about  :flower:

I think (correct me if I am wrong please) what BerlinRocks was trying to say was, there must be a greater intrest (to see cover, content, models, e.t.c) with TFS members with Vogue Paris, rather than Vogue Russia.
That was just how I interpreted it anyway.. :flower:

wow, love the vintage vibe in milla's ed(the shape..the shoulder!!and the model...)...peter lindbergh always devotes his best work to vogue paris...
so...f**k me with more scans....

the cover is amazing...!!!btw what did she wear on the cover?

Stephanie eds looks good, but I hate that 80's vibe looks. It feels like ages to see that kind of styling.

I don't think Berlin has anything against negative (constructiv) criticism, he just doesn't like his opinions being interpreted in the wrong way, which I can understand :flower:

As for WhiteLinen, every time I see a post of hers, it's a rant about how bad everything is, so I understand that some people have grown tired of it...

And about the "I'm sure if it was US Vogue's cover there would be tons of criticism" thing... Come on Miss Dalloway, I may not always agree with you but I think you make good points most of the times, you're better than that kind of silly argument  Plus how could this be Vogue US? Where is the boring styling? Cheesy smile? Text overload?

such a beautiful athletic body on swimsuit/jewelry story
hope someone scan it, even without a face that looks so good.

and about the calendar: me, personally, im not a fan (not pin-up nor even these photos fan), but i think its a very good idea and same thing with execution. pin-up theme, not vulgar, but very nice and sexy, not really often in the last time (i remember only Ellen Von Unwerth who used that theme a lot, but it was a while ago already), plus good styling, plus good photos (not p*rn, i sould remind every Terry Richardson-hater) and plus only new girls, most of them hasnt ever been in Vogue Paris and, finally, its a calendar so it should be on the wall like a pin-up.

It couldnt be US Vogue i know, but sometimes i do feel like there is this "they can't do no wrong" attitude toward VP that some have mentioned in the past. This year i have been loving VP most out of all editions, but wont be buying this issue because i expected more from "guest editor" double one, just call me bitter.

Oh I know I have a VP bias, and I can sometimes LOVE something I would only find alright in another Vogue edition, but that's because for me Vogue Paris isn't a series of editorials + a cover, each issue is a whole, and each ed/model/concept interacts with the rest of the issue...
And I totally understand it is a let down for some people, I'm not questioning the fact that you don't like it, I just thought you took the easy road of criticism in your last comment :p But it's all good, I know where you're coming from :flower:
