Vogue Paris November 2006 : Paris Hilton by Mario Testino

Seven years ago to be more precise.
My point was more that she's hardly ever just the one hit wonder some people here seem to refer her as to.'Bliss' sold 300 000 copies that's hardly ever a flop regarding the French music industry. She's more refered as Johnny's girlfriend internationally speaking since her films aren't really that much distributed abroad but she isn't JUST Johnny Depp's girlfriend for the French. Plus , she is very much recongized for her fashion style , just look at her thread in the star style forum, I don't think that Karl Lagerfeld or fashion magazines like Elle just chose her as one of the faces of Chanel/their covers for nostalgia sake.

Besides, I have to add that being considered as a fashion personality/icon doesn't have anything to do with professional success, a lot of French actresses who are admired or photographed for their fashion style aren't particularly successful (from Anna Mouglalis, to Amira Casar to Lou Doillon ...)

That's true about French style icons. But still, I don't she's getting the issue. We just have to wait and see.

What I don't understand, is that Vogue Paris has 85 years, not 50th !
By the way Vanessa has already been on cover of Vogue Paris and two times on cover of Vogue Homme, in the early 90s

she deserves much more the cover of Vogue than Paris Hilton, and so the readers

Vogue Paris had a stop during the WW2 time. You know France is in Europe. there was a war. so I guess they start from this period. from 1940 to 1945 Vogue France no longer exist.
but it's true Vogue Paris was founded in 1920.
(there)
Vogue Italia had Nicole Richie with Meisel. why not Hilton with Testino? styled by Sauvé or Alt would be perfect. Carine Roitfeld has too much a "b*tch" side in her style for Ms Hilton.

well he must know tons of stuff had stoped during the WW2. is he from france/switzerland?

Well well... so France is in Europe ? and there was a war

French Vogue was born in 1920. During the second world war, it has stoped to restart in january 1947.
So, Vogue Paris is 85 years old. If you count after the war (without any valuable reason), Vogue should be 59 this year. The mention of "Paris" on the cover appeared in 1968 but it had always been one french Vogue.

What I say is Corbis must be wrong saying there is a 50th anniversary for french Vogue. It doesn't make sense.

In 1995, the december issue was a celebration of the 75th birthday. See my own scan with Nadja Auermann on the cover.

If 1995 was the 75th anniversary then surely the december 2006 issue couldn't be the 85th anniversary issue...
By the way Kouklina posted on fashist that John Galliano will be the guest editor of the december issue. I don't know if (s)he posts here, but I regard her as a reliable source

hmm Galliano for Dec/Jan! somehow after the more subdued Dior and Galliano shows, I hope that issue is more crazy....

Wow...

First Nicole Ritchie for Vogue Italia and now Paris for Vogue Paris.
That was my first thought. Next thing you know, Lindsay Lohan is going to be gracing the cover of Vogue...

Ooo, sounds great, I hope he'll let all his new found restraint go  Except, if it means putting Paris on the cover, that is

so there's no 50th Anniversary, right? Does someone got confused with the MarieClaire cover?!

^Lol, I guess ANYONE of whom the tabloids rave - people who are famous for being rich yet flaunting their genitals, people being famous for drug addiction and miraculous weightloss. Class is IT  I wouldn't be saying anything if they could just look a little better doing whatever it is they're doing to grab people's attention, but anyway.

yes it is. drug addicts, anorexic, family affairs etc. are f***ing cool. and this for years & years. this is not new. look at all the archives about big fortunates people (Gucci, Getty, Kennedy S etc.) these rich kids are the new generation. we have to live with it. even Royal Members did some cover.

(Stravos had already his shoot in Vogue Paris and did something for "L'oeil de Vogue")

p.s : I'm lost, what's the subject?

since she just did (a not so 'hot' cover for) MarieClaire's aniversary issue, i doubt she will also be on Vogue

Soon I cannot buy any magazines since I'm boycotting them all. Maybe we at TFS should form our own magazine? NCP = No Celebs Please.

I'm with you on this. I'm boycotting this issue when it comes out, and the NR Italia one and probably Vogue Australia :( I think the line between fashion and useless celebrity has officially disappeared. I know people probably think I care too much, but I must take a stand to the celeb invasion of every little aspect of my life! On the plus side, I guess I'll be discovering new interests over the coming month lol

I think a TFS magazine is a fabulous idea! :flower:

Sure, Princess Margaret graced a UK cover in the early 70s, and Princess Diana in the early 80s. But these were refined women and refined covers...there's just no comparison. And if you check out the 70s and 80s Vogue Paris issues you will find that they have society pages, but that those are front of the book things....not taking up a lot of space. Sure, they did have some society queen features, but those society ppl, those celebs were really beautiful for the most part and nothing like most of some of the most overexposed of today's celebs. As I said, the problem is that they're just not looking very good/sophisticated/enviable.

So no, I don't like this development. But according to the principle of utilitarianism, I'm real happy that at least you find it refreshing
