Vogue Paris November 2006 : Paris Hilton by Mario Testino

IMO Paris has more right to be on Vogue than Nicole, even though I love them both. Paris has a unique sense of style and dresses how SHE wants, not how some stylist tells her to.

The cynical reaction is to be expected though.

I do care, because if the magazine with for example Hilton on the cover sells well, they will continue on that way. If it doesn't sell well they might not be putting Nicole Richie on the cover too soon.

How do we know Paris does not have a stylist? I think it's stupid to be arguing about who has a stylist and who doesn't, because all the famous people usually do get some advice about what they should do with their look.

Most magazines would put a piece of s**t, literally, on the cover if they thought it was made of gold (i.e. sell their mags). That's no surprise...before this month, I suppose most people thought that certain Conde Nast publications were above that...A hypothesis which has now been falsified by our dear Vogue Paris Hilton :D Hmm, end of rant *sigh* It's just been too much with the two Vogue faves selling out and boring collections.... Time to revert into workaholism perhaps

Gosh, at least this is something that Anna Wintour would not let happen to her mag as long as she is alive.

So true.

Then again, Anna Wintour did once use the Spice Girls on the cover... maybe she was just many years ahead of this month's trend.

Yep. It's quite a jolly, girly shot. And maybe they were taking the world by storm at the time. January 1997, I do believe. Poor image taken from a geocities.com fan site that seems to have no title.

Really, Spice Girls generated so much money, without gynecological shots, that having them on the cover was rather natural. They were the biggest act in the world, something that can't be said for Paris at the moment. AW also had Britney Spears on the cover shortly after after 9/11. Although, I've got to say that that SG cover is not very good-looking, is it?

Oooh, I loved them! I had stickers, cds! Damn it, at that time I was learning to improve my reading, but I should have that mag

^I was a fan also. They were huge back then. Doesn't give them the right to be in the Vogue cover in my opinion though.

Looking at that US Vogue cover for the first time in years, I wonder if Victoria was fuming when she saw the word 'WORST' right under her face.

And if Nina's post over at fashist is to be believed - Victoria Beckham was a contender for the French Vogue cover, and only demands for picture approval scuppered the deal, which then went in favour of Paris. I wonder if there's any truth to that. Well, we'd still be in uproar about either choice, but I think I'd prefer Mrs Beckham.

Carine Roitfeld (french vogue boss aka french Anna Wintour ^^) knows what she does. Trust me I've seen the shoot and it's really pure simple and sofisticated at the same time.. very Vogue ^^ ...but at least the staff of the mag said they knew it was not really their thing to deal with "superpopstar" if we can call paris hilton like this.

When I read Paris was on the cover, I was hoping that at least it would be one of those shots that looks nothing like her... not so much. It looks like another boring pic of a boring girl... :innocent:

:D :D :D Me to:blush: (I was 10)

I adored the Spice Girls and by the way Paris Hilton on the cover is lame but I'm still anxious for the contents because the last 6 months or so they were really good and you can't judge a book (or in this case a mag) just by it's cover...

Paris Hilton is a f***ing socialite and has a great "impact" on teens...

Why a socialite wouldn't have the right to do a Vogue cover?! such girls used to do that back in the early XXth.
Paris is not a socialite. Aerin Lauder is a socialite. Patricia Herrera is a socialite. Jemima Khan is a socialite. Most socialites do not appear in tabloids and do not appeal to teenagers because they are boring (i.e.they do not "do coke out off a stripper's ***" to quote Fishfinger).
Paris is a party girl, a 'it' girl.
I love elegance and I know elegance has not been in fashion since at least WWII BUT I cannot help being saddened each time trashiness (and it best friend: blandness) is given more exposure. Which is very often.

Oh, and the mag will sell. Carine knows what she is doing.

PS: it is very shocking to be reminded that Victoria Adams/Beckham used to look like a human being. And a pretty one at that...
