i actually quite like roksanda ilincic, beautiful, feminine aesthetics that befits and compliments dior. and she has been lying under the radar for way too long.

I've always asked myself, why is Karl Lagerfeld shooting the Dior Homme campaigns ? Is he designing for Dior ? Are they going to call him for further jobs ? And also, was it Galliano doing Dior Children ?

If Zac Posen was appointed creative director I sweaaaar I'll burn my mother purses LMFAO. However, the theory of him moving to Paris and all doesn't really sound crazy, I just hope it doesn't happen T_T

Oliver Theyskens on the merit of the amazing Fall 2007 collection to this day one of my favorites! I think he has the technical skill for couture and his aesthetic will breathe new life into Dior which has been a bit stale for some time.

He moved to Paris in 2 months, you need a lot of money and backup to do that, believe me.

i really don't want kate and laura mulleavy anywhere near dior...:ninja:
sorry, it's not that i think their aesthetic is wrong, i feel that they are building rodarte piece by piece and many other designers (michael kors, narciso rodriguez) have said that designing for more than one brand at once can dilute the namesake brand...
the exposure would be good, but in the long run, i feel it could be detrimental...

olivier theyskens has said that he'll never go back to a high fashion house, but who knows, things could change...
he'd have to go back to being under control at a large fashion conglomerate, and it seems he has much more autonomy at theory...

i have a feeling the new dior designer(s) could be someone who has worked behind the scenes with galliano could step in, the way the valentino designers or frida at gucci did...

Lacroix is too good for Dior. His brand has too strong of an individual identity for him to start tailoring his vision to fit Dior's.

:lol: at everyone jumping off a ship with the Posen guess. I always found it to be kind of weird that he began showing in Paris --he's like the last NY designer I would have imagined to pull that, don't you need a big budget for that? It would make sense now that @dodencebt pointed out.

It would be so disappointing though.

when Lacroix came to my mind, i only see the art- part of it, that would be like a dream, but i don't really know the business-part of this thing so...

I think of the known youngish designers today, Posen, Tisci and maybe Theyskens are the ones who fit the enfant terrible / incroyable mode of Galliano and McQueen, that's right dammit that's what I said! I think that Posen has considerable raw talent, but at the same time can benefit from the discipline that comes from having suits there to tame his excessive tendencies.

Furthermore I think that what Posen has that fits into the current paradigm is charisma and people skills, because I don't care what anyone says, being able to say that you dressed Beyonce, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet and heck even Kim Kardashian carries a lot of weight with many of the potential big money customers from the U.S., Russia, Asia, and the Middle East. I don't know yet if I buy into the idea of Posen succeeding Galliano, I can wrap my head around Posen at Givenchy more than Dior, but it is not an entirely crazy idea.

still... good pr has nothing to do with artistic talent and aesthetic sense. his clothes are... let's not even go there. following your reasoning, even georgina chapman would fit in for the job, considering that marchesa is constantly worn at every major event by the most famous celebrities in the world.

^ I agree. If you're putting Posen in the mix, might as well add Georgina Chapman in there. lol

Zac Posen, Marchesa girls, Gerth Pugg, lets add Alexander Wang just for fun!
Come on guys!
It's Christian Dior we are talking about.
(I really hope that none NY designer come to CD)

Ok, dont even say Zac Poson on here, or the wrong person will see and and the next thing you know he's creative Director of Dior
He's a viable candidate, with a lot of experience and a growing brand he looks too promising but I would be crushed if he took the Helm of Dior....It would be the beginning of the end

You missed the part where I stated that Zac Posen has considerable raw talent, you may not agree with it but my point was not simply that Posen should succeed Galliano because of his red carpet work and even then I stated that that was more of a plus in his corner when it comes to the personal services element of the job, i.e., appealing to potential buyers of couture / high dollar items.

Anyhoo, I don't have a problem with Marchesa, but unlike Zac Posen, Georgina Chapman:
  • is not a CFDA Award winner;
  • was not educated at Central Saint Martins and Parsons;
  • to my knowledge has not had a design of hers exhibited by the V&A.

I don't think that any of the above can be attributed to good PR, personal charisma and buzz perhaps, but not solely PR.

There have been so many amazing options, but I truly feel that Theyskens would be THE best choice.

My inside dies to think what Dior would turn into if Posen was hired.

I wonder how successful John is going to be at fighting his removal ? Furthermore, I hope his last collection was a good one as if he goes out with something banale, it's going to look really bad.
