same here, they should give the job to a young designer, not an already very known and established one.

while i agree, the names they've bandied about have not qualified as 'young' in my opinion. then again, john galliano took the helm at age thirty seven.

I loved what he said. clap, clap, clap...

LVMH is like a monster who destroys artist´s souls
and fills them with poison and then vomite them
and let them alone...

Interesting another article reiterates why Alaia turned down the Dior job.

Designer Azzedine Alaia turned down the chance to replace John Galliano at Christian Dior because he didn't feel it was right for him.
Azzedine Alaia turned down the chance to replace JohnGalliano at Christian Dior.
Galliano was sacked from the French fashion house earlier this year after he allegedly made anti-Semetic remarks in a Paris cafe and Alaia was offered the job of helming the label, but decided it wasn't for him.
Journalist Vanessa Friedman reported in the Financial Times newspaper: "Mr. Alaia wasn't interested. Flattered, but not about to pursue. The story of what happened with John was a sad story, he said when I asked him, and he didn't want to be part of the next chapter. And that's even before you got to the other stuff."
Alaia is not the first designer to be linked the creative director post at Dior.
Riccardo Tisci - head of Givenchy - is also in the running and refused to confirm in recent interview what his future holds.
He said: "I don't know what will happen. Sincerely, I feel sorry for John. But for this moment I am leaving aside all the gossip of 'I am going here, I am going there,' because there is a lot of gossip circulating and there always will be. I will tell you, in this moment, I am very happy at Givenchy and it is a moment in which I am bringing the game to the next level. So I tell you, I feel at home. It's as if it were my son. I don't know how to explain it. It would be very difficult for me to leave."

I would never have guessed that Alaia got offered the position. But it's interesting because the idea of having Tisci at Dior seems anti-climactic to me.

Don't they mean that he's the chairman of LVMH, which owns Dior? Not the other way around.
My respect for Alaia has grown even bigger because of this.

I think it's a little bit more complicated than that but Dior isn't part of the "fashion & leather goods"-division at LVMH. Dior and LVMH both own stakes of each other and Arnault also owns majority stakes of both. But I think Dior holds more shares of LVMH which would make Dior the parent company.

i not only love that he got offered the position, but i lovelovelove that he turned it down.

I don't know why, but I can't stop laughing at this. He's so amazing and way too perfect for Dior.

^He could be the best on Dior.
Boss should be nervous now!

They were rumour-milling on the Graziadaily website yesterday about this but come.on. Alaia is just way to cool (and senior, he knows his own mind, thanks) to work for Dior.

What Azzedine said its pretty interesting,

They fired John because they might wanna change the way the do bussiness and needed and excuse to do so?...

Did I get it right?

Haha I feel like there have been rumors of almost every fairly well-known designer taking Galliano's position. I wish Arnault and Toledano would just make the announcement already.
I love Alaia but I don't feel he is right for Dior so I'm glad he turned it down, although there is an interesting point raised in this article that suggests they want to go in a completely new and different direction with the house. If it is the case perhaps Riccardo is an easier guess to take over than we would have thought? Hmm.

No, they fired him because of his harsh words against people.

not just designers, but also distillers. I'm not liking what they are doing the the Glenmorangie brand of scotch whiskey.

Oh, okay. I've never heard that before.
