First off, I'm glad to see a shopbop model not wearing any open-toe boots that almost everyone loves. I have very few problems with velvet. I still even remember velvet jeans from the late 1990s. Anyhow, I don't see anything really wrong. So I'll say
(moderate) Yay! I'm sure the velvet will be very warm, which helps for cold days going around Central Park or Times Square. It's a good alternative from super-furry coats.

* For one thing, I had to copy that picture and do some gamma correction just to see the boots. I do wish I could see a better image of those boots. Now that I've done the gamma correction, my worst fear came true- over-the-knee boots tucked into jeans/pants. Yeah, this is going to be a long Fall/Autumn and Winter fashionwise. Because I can't see the boots very well, I can't give a full comment on those. But since I have yet to see a pair of over-the-knee boots I like, the answer is always
Nay! Get these things out of my face.
* Now on to the dress. I think even with the big details around the neck and with the sleeves, it's still very lovely. So tab me for
Yay! on that dress. Just stay away from those over-the-knee boots.
Yay coat, nay boots, and yay dress! Go shop and dress with confidence! I'll make some alternative picks if I see something I could suggest.
