I can't decide which although they're completely different. At this rate I'm going to end up with both and that is never good for my bank account. The Alexander Wang dress I think is more of a collector's item, whereas the Phillip Lim dress is just plain beautiful. It's no "groundbreaking" design, but that's what Phillip Lim is all about - wearability (although I'm not sure how long those sequins will last lol). The Alexander Wang is approx. $600 and the Phillip Lim approx. $900.

Any thoughts are welcomed!

m.j. - I work at a fashion magazine in Dubai and featured the Kleid dress in one of the get-the-look-for-less pages for the "new floral" trend, but in brown. It looked to me like the inspiration came from Burberry Autumn/Winter 09/10.

CarolineRose - That's funny, I just bought that very trench yesterday! I love it. I keep saying it's the closest I'll ever get to Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010 (posted about it in the Zara thread). It's a yay for me!

hyunkyounglee - If I had to choose one, I'd go with the Wang dress - it's iconic. A lot of my Phillip Lim pieces I buy at the end-of-season sales and I would personally wait on the sequin dress...unless you're planning on wearing it within the next few months. It's pretty, but I'm not sure it's $900 pretty.

sharbear508 - Thanks for the advice, I think I'm pretty set on the Alexander Wang dress:) All the Phillip Lim pieces I want seem to sell out so quickly. Every second that passes I want it more! I'm thinking maybe I'll pass on these Chloe jeans (approx. $480) I got on the waiting list for and maybe get the Phillip Lim...

CarolineRose - yay

hyunkyounglee - I prefer both the Philip Lim and Alexander Wang to those Chloe jeans

THIS IS A NIGHTMARE! Just saw the Alexander Wang dress on NAP and they've completely changed the sleeves! They've made them way smaller than the one on the runway!

^ That's disappointing hyunkyounglee...but it's still an amazing dress. I agree with hautechild, I prefer both the Wang and Lim dresses to the Chloe jeans.

Yeah, I'm not going to die for a pair of jeans that's for sure lol (I almost did for my Current/Elliott roll shorts)

The dress is COMPLETELY different without the big sleeves, now they look more "Balmain" than sportswear-inspired:( I'm looking for other stores that stock them in the U.S., for some reason they're so much more expensive outside the U.S.

I went and tried the trench on today . . . but the sleeves were way too short for me in the small (and there wasn't enough fabric to take it out) and the medium was huge. I adore the style but if I'm going to pay a hundred bucks for something I don't want to have to spend hours tailoring it too!

hyunkyounglee- definitely pass on the jeans and get the dress! The jeans can be easily DIYed with something from Goodwill, in my opinion, and the dresses are unique.

^ ok, thanks!

and yay! it doesn't look very good on that pic, lol. but i've seen the jacket "irl" a few times and it looks lovely!
