American Apparel #2

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a shipping confirmation in Europe/Germany? It's the second time I ordered something but the first time was a long time ago. I got a order confirmation on the 17th but since then nothing's happened
They don't even react to my emails. I think I have to call - Wednesday at the latest..

i dont think they will disappear. honestly their brand has been socially impactful. Kind of like starbucks.

Clothes have gotten more expensive but they are adding lower priced items like bows, watches, pouches, and beauty products.

I think they were crazy for opening so many stores so quickly though. I think about all the locations they have in my city, and they don't need them all-and only a couple seem to be busy on a regular basis.

they have pretty decent locations at toronto. theres one in my city. and theres two downtown that i know of.

How do you think American Apparels quality of clothing is, in general? I need a new striped l/s tee, and have been considering the striped l/s bodysuit. Do any of you own it, and what do you think about it?

I'm going to be wearing it at least once every week and I do not want to replace it after half a year.

i think their quality of clothing is amazingggg. I have a u back dress and it's around 3.5 years old and no holes, etc etc (and i wear it a lot). Their prices are high, but most of their stuff lasts for ages.

The quality varies per item and sometimes even the different colours of the same item have different quality. The lack of constant quality is a bit of a downer.

^hmm, that makes it a bit difficult. I hope someone own the particular item and can tell me something about the quality

the quality is very good. im wearing their t shirt right now actually. i still dont have lose threads.

Maybe the item has some reviews on their site?

And the main thing that bugs me is the bad hemlines (at least on the knitted henley's I always get there). So you might wanna pay extra attention to those when checking the quality. This fabric seems a lot smoother so that might be a plus. Ofcourse you can always order/buy it and return it if the quality isn't what you expected it to be.

I checked the site for you, some reviews about the quality:

looks awsome, but the black fadded by just wearing it. It's kind of a bummer concidering the price with a bit steep!

Also, the black stripes appear to "crackle" when the material is stretched, and since it's a stretchy bodysuit, it strenches (and crackles) a LOT.

the colours tend to run if you sweat a bit..!

There also seem to be some sizing issues. And ofcourse people who like it the way it is

My AA items have lasted me really well - I haven't bought anything from them for years though because their ads and the owner are just :yuk: but I might lie back, think of England and press the Buy button soon anyway because a couple of trusty staples will need replacing and I haven't found anything as good elsewhere.

that does look like a nice slouchy knit... how much is it?

$78 in the US, 87$+tx in Canada...almost 100 bucks.

It's nice though, and I just bought it!

Went to the flea market today. They hadn't ran one in a while. The set up was on the second floor of the main building. Free admittance so no pressure on buying anything. Also the line was A LOT shorter. What do I mean by that? For one we were actually able to park in the parking lot which has never happened! Also the garments were very organized and very few were damages or defectives. This resulted in prices being way higher on some items. disco pants 50?! childrens coats 35?! the stripe bucket bag i had been wanting was 35 down from 60 but i still passed... it is cloth after all. most garments i got were 8 to 10. the highlights being a see through tunic length tee and gold chunky necklace. i also got a stripe tee. some seesucker $3 bloomers for styling on my vintage website. a printed tee with geometric shapes. a "classic" aa rugby s/s henley that is brown and blue. also got my friend a few things. all for 92 bucks. not bad. =)
Funny thing is my friend and I had lusted after so many of these garments in the past and we were able to just pass them up today. the craziest part to me was passing on the cardigans which they never had at previous sales. $20 dollars was a pretty fair price for them.
If you're small enough they have very cute shorts for $12 in a multitude of styles. i am not. boo! lol.
Happy shopping!

i really like the fisherman but I cannot wear wool. its so rough on the skin!

Next week I am going to an AA sale with up to 80% discount

Has anybody been to one before? Do they sell good stuff or?
