Balenciaga S/S 2012: Juliane, Kirstin, Laura & Rosie by Steven Meisel

It's definitely has that sequential, undetectably psychedelic M/M touch, but probably not commercial enough for nowadays Balenciaga, or for tFS!, I would expect this from a more independent and smaller English label that's still trying to make an impression.

I honestly cannot remember this season's Balenciaga collection, but I will probably remember the ads, so I'll give them that for now.:lol:

This is hardly a question of commercial appeal, it's just a poor ad.

Well I can't really place too much blame on the model.. i mean cmon.. Meisel.. McGrath, Guido.. and Marie Amélie Sauve.. and this is the result?!?
I agree, although as I stated previously I don't have a problem with the hair and make up. To me if you are going to go with such a simple composition then the model should have been put in one of the more elaborate or statement-y ensembles from the collection and it probably should have been a full-length shot to show the shoes. Or alternatively, there should have been more going on like a more interesting setting.

IMO these or similar looks would have been better choices from the collection:

I'm certainly not a fan of the hair and the make-up but it's not too awful considering the models they chose. I can only imagine how amazing this campaign would look with Ann-Catherine Lacroix, Kim Peers or Hannelore.

It's kind of sad if you compare this ad with the spectacular group-shots of previous Balenciaga-campaigns - Lily, Gemma, Freja, Hilary, Raquel etc.

Its terribly unattractive, almost trying to hard at it, and to be cool.

I actually quite love it. It looks fresh and effortless and somehow reminds me of the early 00s ads by I&V.

I love Meisel but man, his Balenciaga Ads were all bad :(

i like it! it reminds me of the Gisele campaign and Freja in the f/w 10 campaign,
this look has been done before by Balenciaga and seems to be one of their favorites, you guys like it or not
i'm looking forward to see more ads although i would've preferred a more interesting background..
.

Awful!! it looks hipster-ish They are trying way too hard to be cool and failed at it.

I agree about the I&V ads...which is exactly the point why they should have let them shoot such a concept..now it just looks plain & uninspired:ninja: I can only imagine this campaign by I&V with Hannelore or Elise

This is really a step down from previous seasons. The longer Meisel is shooting Balenciaga campaigns, the more I start to appreciate the David Sims ones.

Worst Balenciaga campaign by Meisel. I mean I don't feel anything, I can't like or even hate it because it is mothing for me. Backstage shots are much better than this.

Hannelore by I&V would've been perfection.

I also get quite a Kim Peers vibe from the new ad.

OMG I can't with Balenciaga anymore. I just can't. This is by far Meisel's worst campaign season so far:

LV- no inspiration, just sugary sweet
Prada- just ripping off Mert & Marcus
Balenciaga- imma let these images speak for themselves :innocent:

Steven, please go sit down somewhere. You've been doing OK with editorials, but the campaigns are just :ninja:. Balenciaga needs a change in photographers. I can't. I just can't.

Haha
LV: girly, sugar, sweet like the collection. Give me a dress.
Prada: love it, cause it looks like M&M....
Balenciaga: awful  it's so boring. where is the inspiration?

i hate it all..the setting, even the choice of the models (yes i know we haven't seen all of the images). if you're gonna do a set like this, then cast models who can actually still sell clothes.

i love designerclothes. I didn't like the add with gisele either a couple seasons ago, only cause it's gisele and a woman i give it a shot. Although for the ones who doesn't know, this model doesn't look that young actually.

that said maybe there are better images.
The right one, she looks okay. It's not her fault that they put her in this setting.

If I saw this ad in a magazine I would instantly turn the page. It's so confusingly awful.
