Balenciaga S/S 2012: Juliane, Kirstin, Laura & Rosie by Steven Meisel

ETA:
I think the models are to new, to unexperienced and to young to pull meisels awful concept off.

This looks like some wannabe-quirky shot you would find in some hipster mag à la Nylon. The first shot is so bad I can't even pay any attention to the clothes because all I can focus on is the bad hair and the fact that she looks like she's going to pass out any second. And what's the point of having those two shots next to each other anyway? Is it supposed to tell a story? Like "Oh, she didn't pass out, she was just about to fall asleep and is wide awake now" or something? I honestly don't get it.

I'd only expect this type of photography for i-D magazine, not a campaign by one of the larger houses.

I like this! It's fresh from them and their typical route.

The only thing that bothers me is that black patch on the shirt. It looks like a black square they photoshopped in to censor or something

I'm certainly not a fan of the hair and the make-up but it's not too awful considering the models they chose. I can only imagine how amazing this campaign would look with Ann-Catherine Lacroix, Kim Peers or Hannelore.
I agree completely!

This is terrible...I can see what they were going for, and it might have worked with a bunch of top models or even a decent bunch of new girls. Can you imagine Nyasha, Kaitlin and Liu in this campaign? I mean these are girls with bite. The models selected won't even reach 15 minutes of fame trust me...

Conceptually its very unoriginal and quite frankly I'd like to see a Balenciaga campaign that isn't shot in a studio (the church last season was good but...) I would have liked to of seen those print shirts set off against palm trees and sunshine, but I suppose that's too commercial for the brand.

Looking completely out of it is attractive? Since when? Horrible idea on so many levels, extremely disappointed that they sunk to this.

I suppose I am the only one here who actually loves it.

Looks really fresh, clean and everything works perfectly together for me. Plus it's not very Meisel for Balenciaga, which is definitely a bonus in liking it.

it's horrible eventho' it's fresh, but it's so not commercial and forgetable...maybe next pics proof me wrong..

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS. but maybe people just expected overly glamourized pictures demonstrative of luxury and power. this is odd in a beautiful way. maybe meisel took a bit of inspiration from those helmut lang campaigns with backstage pictures by juergen teller. we are entering a new paradigm in fashion, and i'm so glad balenciaga isn't afraid of it!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
I just love how delusional fashion people can be sometimes. This is so ridiculously ugly and pretentious.

Meisel for Balenciaga just leaves me perplexed, for the most part. I don't see this as "fresh" or "clean" as it's been described here, quite the opposite. I can't even really see its appeal in a subversive way. The hair, the expression, the model, even the clothes... all I see is a big mess.

I actualy loved last season...but ugly again!
Its so pretentious and dumb (in a way). Its too Gisele, too grounge, too not the colection

I kinda like the concept, maybe the other photos are better.

Seriously......is that it? They must be joking.
I think someone mentioned 'concept' .......what exactly would that be?
I just don't get this, and I think that even if it was all explained to me, very slowly....I still wouldn't get it. Just awful.

Now I wish Balenciaga would switch its ad photographer back to David Sims or even Ines & Vinoodh. This is really bad.

I'm wondering why Balenciaga stopped working with David Sims. Is there an issue with Sims and Sauve? I'm just guessing but I do really hope they can change the photographer next season!
