It was Kate Middleton's very own Marilyn Monroe moment. But unlike the Hollywood sex symbol, Prince William's girlfriend ensured that her modesty was preserved.
Miss Middleton's floaty knee-length dress caught the wind and defied gravity yesterday as she arrived for the wedding of Lady Rose Windsor.
It was reminiscent of the famous scene in Monroe's classic movie The Seven Year Itch, but Miss Middleton had had the foresight to wear a slip while braving the wind as she walked to Queen's Chapel, in St James's Palace in Central London.

Miss Middleton, who also wore a black feather fascinator and a fitted jacket, arrived without her boyfriend Prince William, who is on operations with the Royal Navy in the Caribbean.
It was the second Royal wedding this year that Miss Middleton has attended without Prince William - in May she turned up alone at Peter Phillips's wedding to Autumn Kelly.

Mr Phillips, the Princess Royal's son, arrived at the church walking hand in hand with his new wife, and appeared to have been thriving on married life - his waistcoat fitting snugly to his midriff.
Miss Middleton was attending the wedding of Lady Rose, 28, the daughter of the Duke of Gloucester and a first cousin of the Queen, to George Gilman, 26, the son of Peter Gilman, a former director of Leeds United Football Club.

Lady Rose, who became plain Mrs Gilman yesterday, is the great-granddaughter of George V and is 23rd in line to the throne.
