Chanel S/S 2010 : Claudia, Freja & Baptiste by Karl Lagerfeld

I loved how decadent, elegant and rural it is but in such a subtle way (helps that the palette also feels very creamy), it isn't as obvious and gimmicky as the show was..

this turned out much better than i expected. i liked the idea of a gaucho theme, but i'm sick of baptiste, i don't like claudia's face, and i'm kind of tired of seeing freja by lagerfeld, so it didn't sound promising at all... i'm glad he managed to do something nice though. i'm not a fan of his work as a photographer and i'd like to see someone else shooting it, but he's shot some nice chanel campaigns lately (i was a bit indifferent to last season's, but f/w 08.09, for example, was gorgeous). what i love the most is that even without the logo you can tell it's chanel, it looks chanel, which i find very important. it carries the elegance the name implies. my only complaint is claudia's pose in the 5th shot, it kind of ruins the mood...

this may be my favorite chanel campaign of all time. karl has TRULY outdone himself with this one. seriously. the third one from the top looks like a great chloe ad in lighting and location, but so much more rich and sophisticated given those chanel clothes!!!

The new shots are nice. But I'd rather another model instead of Claudia... Chanel embodies elegance, and Claudia is everything but elegant imo. There are so many other models who'd deserve to get a Chanel campaign... Abbey Lee for instance, or Snejana Onopka... Karl, do you hear me?!

It surprises me it looks totally different from what I imagined after the show. I love the idea of placing the ad in the woods, that's definitely my favourite shot from this season's campaign. Freja is my favourite Chanel girl. There's so much mystery in her eyes.

On the other hand, Claudia's bangs are too distracting for my taste.

The shot in the trees is the outstanding shot in this campaign, so far, for me.
It is just a wonderful composition and Freja looks strong yet vulnerable and I like so much I can even take Baptiste here.....as the whole feel of the shot is totally reliant on him too.
Thank the Lord he is mostly in shadow though.
